    Spiders

I'm not usually bothered by spiders, but when I flicked the sun visor down and saw this little fellow inches from my face I nealy jumped into the back seat!

    Hello Tim,

    The spider is a Huntsman.

    Huntsman Spiders - Australian Museum

    Their bite is not fatal.

Hi Tim, it looks like a tarantula and if so it’s harmless.

BTW, I thought you didn’t have snakes and dangerous spiders in NZ?

just gently put your hand in front of him and let him walk onto your palm then take him outside and let him go on a tree,
or beat the crap out of the car for a while trying to kill it.
    they do move pretty quick!!

oh, this one looks like a baby, there may be a bigger one in the car somewhere else.

Thanks for that Harry, especially since the car is in the garage, which has internal access to the house, which contains my bedroom, that I'm going to try and sleep in tonight! I could always wind all the windows up, but it's a Defender so there is hardly any point in that exercise!!

I managed to persuade the little fellow towards the edge of the roof where I could gently brush it outside

    Thanks for that mate!

(I'll be off to put masking tape over the gaps around the door into the garage then....)

When it's really quiet, you can hear them walking around the room.

Just today I was putting some bolts back in my 2a, i'd gone around with the spider stick and made sure the area was clear.
Just as I got an awkward positioned nut to thread on a bolt, whats that on my arm?

was only a daddy long legs though so didn't bother moving him on till i'd finished
