Cabins in the Grampians (or somewhere else nice between Adel/Melb)

Would like to meet up with some friends from Melb, approx midway. Was thinking Grampians, but open to alternatives.

Don't want to camp, as it's too cold and wet this time of year, but would like to be out in the countryside if possible so we can go 4X4 exploring (they have a Defender too).

Was thinking of a cabin sort of accommodation. Any recommendations for us?

    Thanks
    David

Forty minutes closer to the hills in a house the bank is kind enough to let me live in

We've stayed here a number of times, normally tenting but in cabins the last time with a bunch of 9 motorcycles:

Halls Gap Accommodation available at our caravan park located within The Grampians National Park, Victoria, Australia

They have various cabin configurations. Right in the middle of Halls Gap. If you're looking at going day tripping, there's no reason not to stay in the centre of town close to restaurants and supplies. There are a plenty of other little cabin operators in the area but they are generally all more expensive.

We've stayed here before: Dulc holiday cabins accommodation in halls gap grampians victoria holiday cabins accommodation in halls gap double 2 bedroom holiday units dulc self contained cabins victoria australia mountain views studio bedroom choice and loved it.

If you're looking for something a bit more than basic that is... Very stylish, some with two bedrooms. Great place to retire at the end of the day!

And it's out of town so nice and peaceful. Nothing like kangaroos watching you have a shower (yet with the shower nice and warm and inside!)

Try Grampians Log Cabins at the Dunkeld end of the Grampians, great cabins with fire places or wood heaters, self contained with pots pans etc. some even have a spa.

The pub is unbelievable stuck in the middle of nowhere but is as modern as anything you would find in a large city Think it's called the Royal Mail and it also has 5 star accomodation.

Stayed at both but would reccomend the cabins

This is a nice spot, the prices are reasonable. About 15 mins up the road from us. P M us if you are out this way.

Thanks for that - found the Royal Mail, but at $320 a night is prob out of our price range.

The cabins look good, if this is indeed them: http://www.grampianscottages.com.au/...-cottages.html

Have I got the right place?

All pretty tame. Any tracks in the Grampians that might get a bit challenging in the wet are closed for winter.

Thats the one spent a few months living in them while away for work. If the owners are still the same they were good too.

Have a good trip whatever you decide
