    Figure the rest out yourselves..
    300 km at 12 litres/100km = 36 litres
    200 km at 13 litres/100km = 26 litres
    400 km at 10 litres/100km = 40 litres
    100 km at 15 litres/100km = 15 litres

    36+26+40+15=117 (not 132)

You got the distance right though.

    You are so correct.

Do you actually want to know the answer to do this? or are you just asking random maths questions to waste people's time?
I knew the answer before I posted the question, so I guess from your comment I was specifically waisting your time! Maybe you just didn't know how to work it out? The question was very easy.

To everyone else who may well be interested, 11.7l/100km is correct.

Reading your initial question I think it is a different answer...

A person travels the following distances and records for each distance the following respective fuel consumption figures.

    300km, 200km, 400km, 100km and 12l/100, 13l/100, 10l/100 and 15l/100.

What is the average fuel consumption for the trip? Please give your answer correct to one decimal place.

    Ron.
Strictly speaking, you have given individual fuel consumption rate figures and are asking for an average value for the trip. So, if you are looking for the average fuel consumption rate based on the individual fuel consumption figures as given the answer is the average of the values given, i.e. 12.5l/100km. If however you are interested in total trip consumption rate (quite different from the average value), then the calculation in full gives 11.7l/100km.

Which value are you interested in, total fuel consumption rate, or average over the trip?

First of all, learn how to spell - "wasting" (it was even written infront of you in my quote)

Secondly, I know the question was incredibly easy, I am no dead****, i just really can't understand why you bothered posting it up? Do you have nothing better to do?

going by the figures given above......the answer is 12.5 l/100......

to calculate the average......you add up the results and divide by the number of of results......
    ie.....12+13+10+15 divided by 4.......=50 /4......=12.5

the kms given in the question are not required as the maths has already been done for each leg of the trip giving the average.....
so all thats left to do is work out the average of all the averages......which will give the final average.....

well are we looking for the average of the fuel consumption figures or for the average fuel consumption?
