    Diff Ratio

Afternoon all, This is my first Landrover ever owned, and love it

after having other 4wd's, I do notice the landy revs higher at all speeds, feels like it needs another gear, It's a 2005 defender 130 with standard wheels, what is the diff ratio in this?

    cheers

    3.54 : 1

You can fit a Discovery transfer case which has a higher gear set for high range.

Pretty sure the standard ratios are 3.54:1. This should put your revs at about 2000 rpm at 100kmh. There was an option to put 4.11:1 in them. Mine has 4.75:1 out of a series landy, and it does about 2800rpm at 100kph. Hope this helps!!!!

As mentioned - the diff ratio is the same on all coiler landies.

    However the defender has a 1.4:1 t-case, whereas the discovery has 1.22:1 (pre 1999) or 1.21:1 (1999-on).

Some range rovers and isuzu diesel 110s have 1.003:1, but that will be too tall for your engine to pull.

A 255/85 tyre will up the gearing.
TD5 is strong enough to "pull" them
