physically damaged, once rehabilitated to the point they can look after themselves by the current system or if they can be looked after by day nurses etc then the government should be giving them very low interest housing loans like they did in the days of the war service home scheme etc so they can build their own to suit their particular needs..

mentally damaged should be serviced with in the current war veterans setup until they have been rehabilitated to the point they can manage themselves then as above.

that said, i know little of the current setup for those with mental problems.

I think we should as they served and risk there lives for this country.

Absolutely the taxpayer should foot the bill, and be happy to do so.

There is enough fat to trim, to make it pay.

A mob like Hillsong can get millions in government funding and grants, and not pay tax - yet are a massive property developer. ?!!
We waste millions on govt. travel and expenditure, funding overseas travel, free travel for ex-politicians...ridiculous rent on empty overseas offices for "trade commissioners" and "envoys"

I love sport, but don't get me started on the millions ****ed away at things like the Commonwealth and Olympic games, either.

We owe these men and women an unpayable debt of gratitude.

Regardless of opinion on the war(s), etc., these people were doing a job for their country.
They should be helped, supported and assisted in every way possible, not chucked in line with every other poor sod from civvy street

yep definatly its part of the agrement to serve that the country will after you if anything happens just like any other employer we expect private employers to have insurance to cover injury or death the federal govt is a self insurer so its tax payer money instead of the insurence companys. we have a govt department to look after injured vets its there job: we used to have real repat hostpitals too but not any more

ps: if your severly disabled and living on a defence pension the low interest loans proberbly dont help much either (BTW my primary source of income is a defence pension )

I would be proud to know that my tax dollars are being used to repay the debt we owe these returned servicemen/women.
