It takes real guts to leave a safe place like Australia and put your butt on the line for what you believe is right

Definitely believe they should get the best health care.
They should also be given the prettiest nurses and doctors that speak english.

I'll go along with that. Don't see any reason at all why "Commonwealth Public Servants" should be treated any different to any other employee of any employer in the country.
The services are a different case entirely - they knowingly and willingly put themselves in harm's way to protect the rest of us. A "Commonwealth Public Servant" expects to be placed at no greater risk than Joe Public - big difference I think.
I can however see a very good argument for adding Police Officers, Firefighters etc to service personnel for special consideration should they be injured in the line of duty. After all, they also knowingly and willingly put themselves in harms way to protect the rest of us.
Cheers .........

Dont get me started,,,,,I will vomit if I think of the way soldiers I lead were treated after suffering severe physical injury.
In my opinion, and I have lots, just ask me, if you go on Operational Service, in a Combat Zone, you have voluntarily put your life on the line. You are giving/offering, literally, an arm and a leg, and everything else, for your country. So, it should be that when you get back, you dont pay personal tax, ever!, you dont pay for health, ever!, and if you are physically and mentally unable to look after your self, then someone bloody well looks after you! AND GODDAM PROPERLY! (yes, we could argue all day about what is combat, for how long, length of service, what service/corps qualify....whatever, but im not going to)
2% off the market interest rate or any low interest loan is not HELP. It is not respect!
And, Im not on a crusade against the public service, but ITS NOT THE SAME! A public servant goes to work believing, rightfully, that they are in a safe environment (presuming they are working within Australia. A soldier goes to work, knowing, particularly in todays current environment....that there are a million people out there that want him dead...preferably in a nasty gruesome newsworthy way.
Im fixing bayonets for anyone that wants to argue.
Courage!
Yes - they get **** pay to work in **** conditions and then their life is turned to ****...for what? Our freedoms and beliefs and our way of life which is simply put the best on the planet. We should do just the opposite of what the generation before me (in general) did to the Viet Vets on their return from war.
Cheers
PS. We can all find the dough to pay for it too
Yheap... without question, for those who have seen active service in conflict!!....absolutly
cheers
Agree they should. Unmarried mothers with lots of kids to different Joes get looked after, all they do for the country is "Breed for the Dole".
Diggers that go out and risk their lives for us contribute a lot more to society than just boosting the population.
The government Tells our Boys to go out and fight.
The government doesn't tell the breeders to stop, and is happy to fund their needs.
No, we owe them more than this.
Hillsong being a church and the government wants to buy there votes. though I am a Christian and will always defend my beliefs any time belief is attacked, I do absolutely agreee with FenianEel's statement. on other threads before the election I have spoken saying Church and State should always be kept seperate, and the State [country] funding a Church like Hillsong is not Seperation of Church and State.
I would oppose the State funding my denomination--Our Denominational Schools are Funded by the State, and I do not like this, as I believe in Total Seperation of Church and State.
But I do not believe that a Church should pay tax on any funds that a member donates to it from the money he has earned and paid tax on. I give offerings money happily to my Church, and would be upset if the Government tried to tax this money, donated freely when the Church passes around the offering bag/plate. But that is different to a Government giving money to a Church who makes a lot of money from property development. Apostle Peter said "Silver and Gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee, Rise up and walk," Acts 3:6. SWee the Apostolic example is that Christians like Hillsong should not be hoarding wealth.
A Church that is led by God does not need money from the State
"And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: [29]And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30]Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? [31]Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32](For after all these things do the Gentiles seekfor your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
[33]But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." Bible, Matthew 6:28-33.
"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." Holy Bible, Phillipians 4:19.
"And he [Jesus] said unto them, When I sent you without purse [without money], and without food pouch, and without shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. [36]Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse [Money], let him take it, and likewise his food pouch: and he that hath no sword [Sword meaning Bible, Ephesians 6:17, Hebrews 4:12], let him sell his garment, and buy one." Holy Bible, Luke 11:35-36.
"
If a Church like "Hillsong" asks the State for money the Government should tell them to go and read all these passages in the Bible, and then ask God for the money.
