[QUOTE=rick130;1331134]Of course, but my point was that I'm guessing it's not over and above money already budgeted for marketing Australian tourism, and IIRC industry tip a fair bit into that pot too.[QUOTE]
Good point Rick. All too often the tourism industry is left to pick up the tab for promotion and lets face it, every Australian benefits from the tourism dollar. At least they'll be getting some bang for their buck, something that what's her name failed to achieve, ie all bang, but no buck!
Cheers,
Daryl.

Is it just me or do others get sick of regular negative attitudes. Australia...the land of the knockers. If you want to complain about hospitals etc...look at the government. For exposure...the amount coming out of Tourism Aust is $1.5mill......the return will be brilliant exposure of this great country. As has been pointed out....40+million viewers in the states alone...plus being showed in another 147 countries. FFS....that's positive. Positive for us as a country and positive for those that are struggling in various tourist type industries.
Maybe we need a negative nellies section and can throw in negative threads plus those other woe is me type threads and you can all go throw a massive pity party and drone and groan on about how tough life is, or who da bad man is etc, and hopefully drown in a cesspool of negativity. That way us grounded folk who look at a glass as being half full don't have to step around the dribble,
Regards
Stevo
P.S. yeah yeah yeah....well aware I do not have to read certain tripe and generally don't...just seems to be pervading of late and that is the problem with negative attitudes and the woe is me's....they tend to bring down those around them and would hate to see this forum get more and more negative and woe is me threads constantly going up.
I heard what I thought was a clever version of that "glass half full" thing recently. Maybe it is an old joke, but I thought it was amusing.
A pessimist will tell you the glass is half empty; an optimist will tell tell you the glass is half full; an engineer will tell you the glass is twice the size it needs to be.

I recently heard that Australia has 3000 nurses working now in other non-medical Jobs, because they will no longer put up with how they are treated when Nursing.

Don't get me started !
If someone thinks that emptyng bedpans is all that nurses do, I can probably train a monkey to do that, however I can guarantee the mortality rate in hospitals would skyrocket. You would be safer staying at home and getting the witchdoctor to cast a spell.
Yes I was both trained under the old system and am a university graduate (multiple times and at masters level), I would never want to see the system go back to the old scheme of things where patients survived by good luck or died in compassionate hands.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Lets play doctors 'n' nurses, a long time ago in a land far away, the doctors through their associations decided how many Uni. positions there are each year thereby basically(let the screaming begin)allowing them to maintain their wages by limiting the number of specialists also forcing us to import doc's from other countries. This is why there are almost no specialists in certain fields outside the city's
Nurses negotiate with one employer (the state govt.) who sets both their wage and controls the actual job numbers. Private hospitals to make a profit charge the govt the same rate / patient then get a few more $$ from your health fund and pay their easily replaceable employees(read nurses and below with the specialist doctors getting more of course) in some instances less than the state(especialy rural private hospital/nursing homes on eba's) . If they are underpaid its OUR fault and we should elect a state govt who will pay them fairly and enforce a national minimum award for them.
