    NSW: VSI 50 is dead

    Hey All,

Got this from 4WD Action DON?T LET THE GOVERNMENT BAN 4WDING! | Australian 4WD Action . I have copied the letter and sent my thoughts along with it. I suggest this is one time we all as 4WDers band together again as this is bull****,

    Regards

    Stevo

I thought that there were some problems with it such as the not retrospective, but you better have the paperwork if you've already had it done statements. Most of it was a vast improvement and will really only serve to take the most extreme vehicles off the road - which were probably not legal anyway.

I've attached the revised VSI50 to see what it's really about.

Whoever wrote this at 4WD Action must have some serious chaffing by now.

We are sure that you all remember the furore that was caused last year when the then Minister for Roads, Mr Michael Daly tried to introduce a new law that effectively banned the lifting of 4WD’s in the state of NSW. That law was known as VSI 50. Due to a huge outcry from the readers of 4WD Action, Mr Daly had no choice other than to back down and put VSI 50 on hold.

I got it thru GC4WDC yesterday, I copied and pasted the form letter off 4wd Action only after modifying it slightly to give those pillicks a verbal tongue lashing (in a nice way of course). If it gets through in NSW its only a matter of time until some waste of space QLD politician tries it up here.

I think the proposal is rubbish....as was the previous offering.

If you modify a vehicle outside of the minor modification (owner certified) guidelines, then you require an engineering signatory (authorised by the RTA!) to say it's okay for the road. So, that being the case, why do they need this crap? Aren't the engineering signatories any good?

If a vehicle is modified outside of the guidelines and not supported by an engineer, then it'll get picked up by Police (eventually) just as it will when this rubbish is legislated.

I reckon it's more NSW Government BS

From what I'm hearing (which I will deny!) the NCOP will be adjusted to include the changes which arise from VSI50, and the other states are waiting for VSI50 come into force before they get back into the NCOP laws. So... it may be you and other states, but if anything this will be a round of new freedoms in QLD, so you should be hoping that it all comes through.

    People power in action again!!!!!

Today is a great day for 4WDers, VSI 50 has been scrapped.
The NSW government have deferred VSI 50 to a national board - the Australian Modified Vehicle Certification Working Board.

This means that the State Government have seen the light and have scrapped VSI-50 from their agenda.

The government and Four Wheel Drive NSW & ACT decided to keep 4WDers in the dark regarding discussions about VSI 50. Secret discussions behind our backs is no way to represent 4WDers.

Taken directly from the 4WD Action facebook page.
Whether you love or hate the mag,you can't deny their passion for the industry.I was one of the ones that sent an email, and congratulate every other person that also did likewise, and I also thank 4WD Action for bringing it to public attention, and making the action so easy to carry out.
No affiliation with the mag.Just give credit where I think credit is due.
The rest of the article is on the 4WD Action facebook page.

About friggin time. Some of those cruisers and patrols that are so high they look they are going to tip over at 5km/h on a round about need to be addressed by the VSI-50 regs were over the top.
