We had one couple pull out of a truck parking bay and stop on the highway waiting for his mate,it was the hardest braking I can ever remember doing,so hard in fact the peddle started going mushy and the override brakes on the camper went slack,110 to 10 in 40mtrs . Pat
All drivers at some point doo stupid **** but it's the over loading that gets me
I'd have to agree on the overloading. When you look at the GVM on say my D2, you can only put shy of 600kg in the truck before you are over. With a bull bar, water and roofrack, the occupants are left wearing a G string!:D In all seriousness though I am thinking of buying one of these to use to carry more gear offroad:

All up around 700kg max and will take some load off the car etc. With a bub and dogs on a trip, I need something more than just the car. The pod is also under the magic 750kg offload rating that the D2 (and most 4wds) books suggest. Already have the TVan on the market.
Ever been to Vietnam or India? :D :D :D
I can remember the march out on one camp, myself and the RSM were bumping along a track at some speed in a 110 perentie with one of the more...."Colourful" of the army drivers...
Guy infront of us was towing a portaloo, a cadet (corporal) ran out in front of us, jumped on the portaloo and started swinging off it, then jumped off onto the track.
Only to turn around and see the front grill of the perentie coming at him at some speed.
Old mate stood on the brakes, practically tore the handbrake off, got out and gave him a right ear bashing :D :D :D
Who says fenders can't stop? :p
Wow, Pat, that's a real beauty. At least I can feel like I'm not the only one. I always tell students that if they see anyone on the side of the road at all, steer clear and expect the worst. What also makes it worse is that when (no if about it) there's a big accident, then you've got a very long time until emergency services arrive. Did you see the highway patrol pulling anyone over while you were up here?
Those Stockman trailers look great. A good sensible size and weight. I see that camper trailers are getting bigger and bigger and they're overloaded, too! Great. And the bozos can't park them.
Thanks Davo. Some criticisms of the Stockmans are that they are expensive but I reckon they are cheap compared to camper trailers. Some of the add ons get dear but around 5 grand for the 'extreme' off road model with DO35 coupling, independant suspension and shocks sounds pretty good to me.;)
How come it's called 'Tourist Season" but you're not allowed to shoot them?
