But they also pay GST/stamp or whatever which probably brings it back to being on par.... but they buy in bulk and ....

Its like the whole shop local arguement to support the shops in your town, yeah fine and thats all good, but they can stick it if they are marking the prices right up and I can get it cheaper in the next town. Fuel is a brilliant example of this where I live, so with a long range tank I usually fill up either in Sydney or Yetholme and Orange can sell no fuel as opposed to ripping me off. The sellers need to get it right, and if the problem is at the retailer, the wholesaler or the manufacturer is not my problem.

I found fuel to be a rip off when I lived in Orange too. Even doing the woolies voucher thing didn't make much difference...

Well Tyres are ordered paid for and ready to ship on the 12th with an expected delivery of 17th December..

Very good to deal with, only slight confusion is that the final shipping cost was lower than quoted (and i had already paid) there is now a credit on my account. so maybe worth getting a final figure and then paying.. if they can do that!

will let you know how they go...

The other issue will be tyre compound may not be for aussie roads as we have terrible surfaces.
I looked at getting a drop saw from usa, so much cheaper, the cheapest one of the same brand i could find was from bunnings. They're price was the same as the usa one plus delivery to the dollar. Some retailers can put effort in getting minimum profit and gain customers, it's a pitty aussie tyre retailers don't do the same.

my silent armours have arrived, no problems, would recommend tirerack and will use again.

I thought there was a voltage difference with the US electrical gear. Aren't they 110/120v ?

Not only big ticket items such as tyres. Australian distributed (on line) imported toner refill kit for my colour laser printer, $199 plus $12 postage. Same item from Hong Kong, $99 plus free postage. So I'm buying my toner from a chinaman in Hong Kong as opposed to a chinaman in Australia!

Yes, a lot of their gear is 110 volts only and their market is big enough that there is no dual voltage switch. Items powered by a plugpack can often be purchased and a 240v plugpack bought locally fitted at a large saving.

you can get step down transformers but to run 'thirsty' items ie a 2400w drop saw would be EXPENSIVE.
