    CHEAP HID Spotties

I am currently in the market for some new driving/spot lights for my Disco and in my search on ebay i came across some reasonably priced HID lights... Does anybody know enough about these to let me know if they would be worth buying compared to a similar priced Halogen Spot light?

I can get them landed on my door step for less then $300AU

Here is a link to the lights in question... Also it says it comes with wiring so i am assuming this means everything needed is included? or would i still need to make a further purchase.

Pair 9" HID XENON DRIVING SPOT OFFROAD LIGHT JEEP 4X4 - eBay (item 230566279779 end time Jan-21-11 17:48:34 PST)

Thanks in advance guys! and Merry Christmas!

Just reading the 'Chinglish' there is no way these are made in the states however, they might be ok, they are certainly cheap enough, so what if they anly last a year at that price????? they'll probably last at least 3-4 years.
I did get confused when they said the 'slimline ballast and starter is optional' then on the next line they say it's integrated into the housing. Do you need to buy the ballast/starter as an extra? If so, how much are they?

Bit more research neede I think.

I will certainly be looking into them before i commit to the purchase... but for the price they seem like a fairly decent unit... being HID i would assume they would out do similar priced Halogen lights.

Mudnut has a set of these in 4" so i am hoping he will chime in with his experience with them.

Grover look in your other post I posted a picture I have those lights in 7" (plenty big enough)

I also bought them in Australia...from a guy in WA. I cracked a deal with him for an extra 50 or something which bought the price up to 399 I got 4300k bulbs put in I got one spot and one spread and also an adjustable mount.

you may notice that the one you are looking at are not adjustable so once you mount them that is it, mine you can adjust the light to look at the sky if you want to...I started off with looking at those but I do feel the ones I got were better and worth the few extra bux

They look like Piranha CAT Series HID knock offs.

Cat Long Distance Beam - CAT Series HID Driving Lights - Headlight and Driving Light Looms

4wd Action gave the CAT Series lights a good wrap, if they perform aswell as the CAT Series lights then they would be good value for money. Piranha charge more than that per light. They could even be the same light LOL. Matt

Sounds like they are the same as the CAT Series ones. In the CAT series range the black ones are the wide beam the orange and black ones are the spot beam.
