as a friend of mine said last week:
I might re-write the 131940 web site - the river between Emerald and Rocky is cut due to dry spots commonly known as "roads" appearing in a few spots - preferred method of transport - Hovercraft
now, i've got the wireless turned on, UHF is scanning the appropriate emergency services channels, and i'm catching the odd newsflash on TV......

and i'm far from being in danger of floodwaters!

As far as central QLD goes travelling west of Rockhampton towards Emerald or Longreach is just not possible.

The Capricorn Hwy is cut in many spots with the big one being the Dawson river at Duaringa. Not only is the water over the bridge but I have seen pictures of the water tearing the bitumen off the bridge surface. Even once the water recedes the roads and bridges will need to be repaired.

The Bruce Hwy north/south is ok for now but once the flood peaks hit Rockhampton the bruce hwy will be cut for some time.

Theodore, Moura, Baralaba, Woorabinda, Duaringa, Emerald, Alpha, Barcaldine and Agnes Waters are all isolated and likely to be for some time.
Check out the attachment..that is the Dawson at Duaringa a few days ago it's higher now.My sister who took the pic expects to be marooned at Duaringa for at least another week.

Yep places like Duaringa have been forgotten about by the media.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I organised for some friends of ours who live on a property near the Dawson River bridge to be evacuated. Normally they can ride out a flood at their place but the water just kept on rising.
There is a good chance that their highset Queenslander is now under water.

yea, the QPS repeater seems to be a source of some grief atm, theres interferance galore even with the squelch turned right up, and it seems to be only the western channel doing it

not too sure if i'd pick you up anyway, the QPS frequencies i have confirmed, the QAS frequencies are still sketchy

I remember 3KZ as having good all night music programmes in the 1960's. I could pick it up from Colo Heights on the Putty Road and keep it with only a few bad spots all the way up the New England to Warwick, losing it it totally when one turned into the goomburra Valley between Warwick and Cunningham's Gap.
