Worst part is she asked me if i was ok with that and all i was able to say was "just do your job mate" What I should have said was no, take the statements and give him a ticket. Just cos she told her buddy she didnt wannt do a prang tonight doesnt mean they get out of it - but you know how it goes if i had have said that she would have got the tom tits and gone back and out me on paper. To make matters worse she ( leading senior constable) coundnt even make up her own mind to write it off herself she had to call 14 and ask him. Whether she sould let driver vehicle 1 drive his car away. Then said to him dont drive it on james ruse drive the HWP will give you a ticket as its unroadworthy..... go figure

If he's here on a Visa then he can bum around on his motherland licence...

It's only when he scores residency/Citizenship that he's got to obtain a State licence.

    We're a joke.

That sucks though. As booger said, you definately have options, whilst the worm still has insurance.

Booger - pretty sure the police would know
Hey Feeny, its nice to be back. Yep up to the court house tomorrow and start the paperwork

Booger I sense you have had some bad dealings with police. So long as he carries a translated version of his sri lankan licence he can drive in australia (well wa as far as my info goes). Although if they are choosing to live they have not sure exactly between 3 - 6 months to change over. Because of the accident though he should be charged for careless driving or alike go to court and he will lose the ability to drive in aust.

Hard luck though mick im sure you can do something though

It's an even bigger joke that they can then have the test conducted in their native language - at least in Vic anyway.

    Have you sought legal advice?

    Dave.

Yep thats what i thought too, but ther told me "we have no power to make him pay so if he doesnt we close the claim"

I always thought hey delt with the other vehicle then went after the policy goldcer for the excess. i never realised my repairs owuld be dependnat on him paying up. On top of that they told me if i had full comp insurance they would have just settled me out and then GIO could have gone him for the excess. BUt i dropped full comp this year because of the low agreed value of the vehicle. - bad mistake ! Third paret insurance is useless - the bonuses of service full comp customers enjoy is worth the premium in this case.,

I learnt very quickly that its way easier to do the correct thing in cases like this and domestics rather that writing it off.....

Even though yours is third party, you were not at fault.
If you have other policies with them they may be negotiable on pressing a claim for you.
    GOODLUCK
    Andrew
Yep thanks LandyAndy i did think that and i called them - i have 4 or 5 policies with them and my Third party policy covers me if i have accident with someone who is not insuired but as this goose is technically insured they wont or cant help.
