Thread: Missing member wa Chris Hardie

This is the first I've heard about Chris' disappearance and the tragic end of his life and that of which he shared with his family and friends.

Absolutely devastating... It actually brought a tear to my eye. I didn't know Chris for a bar of soap, but it sounds as though he was a great man who had a great impact on many people around him.

If someone is in touch with his family, I hope you can pass along my sincere condolences to his wife and family.

May Chris find the peace in death which he could not find in life and may the people he has left behind remember him during happy times.

Mental Health has always been the poor relitive in the health system. In nursing few grads choose mental health placement, even fewer in older adult mental health. The stats on suicide and attempted suicide in this country both in the young and older adults is shocking. If the government doubled the budget in mental health it would still be very short of the mark.
Its a sad thing that mental health is a subject only discussed when we know somebody that has sadly passed away.

Agreed...according to our government one in five of us will suffer a mental illness over our lives - with the majority of us suffering a mental health problem at some point over the course of our lives. (Illness being more severe and prolonged) So they're aware of it and yet don't spend the money.



May I ask if there will be a public service for Chris? I am sure many would like a chance to pay their respects but I can understand the family may want it to remain private

I only knew Chris briefly as I mentioned before, the reality is of his action he is out of the turmoil he felt over take his life and cause him to take the course of action he did.
His good lady with young Children have to pick up the pieces of their life.
As Chris was a member of the forum he was a member of " the Family" as such (and not knowing what finacial position his family may be in and I hope I don't sound flippant) I would like to donate $*** to his wife and family in an effort to ease the burden of the coming weeks.
And this comes from no alterior motive apart from having lost someone in a similar manner and knowing what hardships it can bring to bear on those left behind.
If anyone can tell me how to make this practicle gesture it would be appreciated Andy.

1 way i know of would be to have someone close to or a family member open a bank account then post the required info for electronic transfer, this should be able to accept credit card payments aswell.

Just thinking out loud.....Does Dave have enough information on Chris's account to arrange something in this regard.
