Keeping it all out in the open is the best way to go, and for all the efforts that the AULRO family have put into firstly the search to find Chris and then the offers of support it would also be nice to know how much was scrape together.

Good point ace, and maybe sara, landyandy and I could meet up with Beefy prior to the funeral and withdraw the funds and stick it in a card from us AULROIANS.
That way it will take away any possiblity of wrong doing and keep it all kosher and safeguard our integrity!
Any viewpoints on this would be great from the affected parties, it is only an idea?!!

I think it's a good idea - it's more about assuring members outside the state that we're doing the right thing by them and Chris' Family
Let me know if and when you need me, Beefy has my contact details but I'll pm you lardy

    The loss of Chris

I have just logged on, always look for Landy Andy's comments first thing.

Hi Andy, it's Brian from Cuballing here.

I met Chris through this site after reading Landy Andy's comments about his abilities, and the fact that he was starting a new business in Kelmscott.

Living in the bush it is always handy to have good info on a genuine Land Rover specialist and to also give a new guy a go.

Chris has serviced my car on 3 occasions since I first heard about him, the first service was six months ago.

When I drove up to his workshop the first time I was impressed by his workshop, the way he asked me questions about my car, then went on to do a really professional job.

On chatting he asked what I did, then he asked for advice on marketing, which I gave him willingly..He also asked how to get rid of the oil stains on the workshop floor, again I advised him on the best way to do it.

On the second visit, I asked him to check the transfer case leak as I was taking a long trip, all OK. I mentioned that I was going to a family wedding in Perth and he told me that he had just got married...Best wishes etc.

My third visit was on Christmas Eve to replace the rear brakes and to do an oil change, ( Chris was always insistent on changing the oil and filters after 5K ).

Prior to getting to the service, Chris called me to ask me if it was OK for me to join him for a Christmas lunch at the workshop. I had a busy sked that day,. but I said I would enjoy his company and I appreciated the offer.

Chris, with his Dad helping, did the job, Chris went and got a Chinese meal, which we enjoyed with another client, ( who was heading of to SA in D1 V8, which Chris had worked on.)

Chris's wife and children joined us for the lunch, it was obvious that the newborn was a child of the new marriage, and he was totally absorbed by this baby. I commented this to Chris, and he responded " this is my first child and I love him with all my heart "

I have difficulty in getting to grips with Chris's suicide, and the why's??

A good guy, starting a new business, good client base ( through this site )

    Why ??

    regards
    Brian

i think Chris' recent suicide leaves alot of us baffled.. he was such a get up and go guy..

every time I went to his workshop he put the kettle on, have a coffee just how i liked it ready in minutes.. put the tools down and chatted...

the whole situation leaves us with a lot of questions..

he seemed to have it all going well.. the business, recent marriage, recent child.. future plans..

I work in an emergency department, that sees and helps an awful large amount of people in a similar positions to what Chris was in. I just wish i could have helped one more.

reading stories like Brian's brings a tear to my eye, as mine was so similar..

found out he was new in the area, went to him for a wonderful service.. car purred,

had a blown head gasket, he worked on it long hours to get it back to me just when i needed it.. and did a brilliant job..

always happy to answer emails for advice and small fixes I could do at home..

and gave me advice for future upgrades to my car!

its such a shame to see him leave this world, I hope whatever he was running from wont be bothering him any more.

I'm never going to find a mechanic that I could have called friend so easily..

Mental Health disorders and the stigma it carries. No one, government or man in the street has any idea of the tragic effects of mental health issues. I have worked 35 years in mental health nursing and still cannot come to grips with the devestation on the unfortunate victims and familys. I have recently retired from nurseing, fed up with little funds and a goverment that cares little. Chris was person who needed help, help our health system was unable to supply. To his family I feel verry sorry for your loss, to Chris I am sorry we could not supply the health service you needed. Rest in peace.

    Thanks for those words guys,
If anyone else has such experiences of Chris they would be equally welcomed.

Allan cheers for the experience you have to share, isn't it complete bollocks that just because mental health doesn't win elections it doesn't get a look in.
And in my experience that is a global mentality.

without looking back (as I am way slack) someone mentioned a chris hardie day on Aulro annually, maybe we could do the virtual raffle (rope in some of chris's suppliers for prizes) and raise money for mental health organisations

There you go Allan over to you who needs the cash from a yearly event?

    Lardy, if only.

Our government, both sides need to spend the money. Only they can fix our mental health service.
