Hers was a worst case scenario. No mobility to exercise the limbs makes it worse. So does major drug resistance after years or drug cocktails perscribed till resistance required stronger versions.
As others have said DVT is not a long term problem with correct care and prevention.
Also bare in mind my mother died many years back before DVT was a buzz word.

Vern, I have type 2 diabetes, my wife is an RN and actually does diabetes workshops as part of her job. I dont want to sound like physician here but I dont know if you understand that the body turns everything we consume into glucose....almost....everything except fructose (in any form) which the body sends to the liver and in turn converts it to fat and stores it in your veins and arteries.
As a result of learning this....only a few weeks ago....and reading and listening to David Gillespie, I decided to do what he did.....go cold turkey on sugar. His books tell you how to read labels properly, what to avoid and how to substitute for your sweet cravings. In a few short weeks my bgl's have almost halved, I am just slowly losing weight and I'm still eating same quantities of food......thats not really correct......because sugar masks your bodies fullness alert system when eating, I'm finding that I'm feeling full much quicker so dont go for 2nd helpings etc.
I personally recommend anyone......anyone with any concern at all about their health, their weight and especially diabetics to get a copy of Davids books and read them. I dont believe any single person who reads them will NOT do something different about the amount of sugar they consume.
For those reading with interest the books are.....
Sweet Poison...why sugar makes us fat.
The Sweet Poison Quit Plan...how to kick the sugar habit and lose weight.
David Gillespie.....penguin books
Sweet Poison
cheers Dennis
