I will only trust a monitored security system, I can recommend this guy as he seems to do a good job

A guy I worked with had a shed on his farm wired into the internet. If there was a breach, his mobile phone was notified by SMS and the scene was broadcast on a webcam he could log into.
His insurance company considered this a monitored system and his premiums went down.
The Police response to something that's actually being witnessed will be a lot faster too.

If you are looking at a monitored alarm check with your insurance coy about a discount on your policy and see if they have any specific requirements.
If your going for a monitored alarm then where the control room is doesnt matter much its what you want them to do when it goes off that counts (Im sitting in an alarm monitoring room right now working very hard) we can monitor alarms any where in australia and do.As drivesafe says its not hard to install your self and over half the cost of an alarm is labour so doing it yourself will either save you money or get you a very good alarm

A melon head bull terrier is good. Police usually get samples of the intruders DNA from what is left behind. You may have trouble getting the bully to relinquish the arm or leg.
SBS had a series on unusual pets. A guy on acreage near San Francisco had a "watch cheetah". Sign on the very high gates and fence said "Watch cheetah on duty". "He runs 100 yards in 4 seconds. Can you?"
URSUSMAJOR
My brother is a high level manager in a major national security company and their alarm business makes most of its money from the callout fees to false alarms. Neighbours soon ignore the alarms as they go off all the time. Ask me how I know that - an alarm goes off in one of my neighbours houses at least once every couple of days. I don't think any have actually gone off when the baddies are about - plenty of false alarms at $150 a pop if monitored.
Physical security is better than electronic security.

Yeh most False alarms have a reason we often get "sorry left the window open so the cat could come and go" or "it was raining so we let the dog in the house"
$150 there are only half a dozen national companys and we subby call outs from 3 of them we charge them $38.50 thats also what we charge direct to the public![]()
