Just as an update Ian got talking to a building company about the formply and basically the guy said its $80 a sheet for the Australian standard..however he can get us basically the same stuff imported from the UK which is not Australian standard (doesn't have the certificate to say so) but is basically the same although its brown in colour rather than black like the Australian one shown to him.... this is $45 a sheet.

So we are looking at going down this route.

I think form ply will work well, and I'm not 100% sure but I'm guessing a good oil based timber paint on the edges to seal it would be ok too.

Dear old Dad used to get me to use Solpah Oil on any ply we used that might be exposed to moisture when I was a lad, but maybe someone that really knows how to treat timber might chime in.

Using form ply is a good idea, but you need to get it up off the floor or the moisture will get in , painted with kryptonite or not. Formply is not treated. Perhaps a treated sleeper (6"x2") on edge would be easier underneath. At least then you have a sacrificial piece on the floor which can be replaced instead of a sheet with a rotted bottom edge.

myself and Ian will be embarking on our biggest project in unknown waters begining Thursday!!!!

I'm excited to be doing it as I do think between us we will do a reasonable job however neither of us have ever done anything like this before.

But I know what I want it to look like and that is the main thing....I'm fairly good at re-creating the plans that are in my head.
