    Now, this is BIG...

Ok, so maybe not the biggest of the big, but still fairly big....

It is parked just outside of Adelaide, at Lower Light today, and moves into the city tonight.

    The stats:

    130m long inc 5 prime movers, 3 pulling & 2 pushing
    7m wide
192 tyres (on the trailer. Add another 50 for the trucks)
    really really heavy.

And, cause it didn't happen without pics.......

Think the Disco may have to go into low range to get this moving....

It is due to depart at 2200hrs tonight, so am heading back out to have a look with the prime movers hooked up, and all of the flashy lights on the escorts.

    Its an electrical transformer.

Part of the upgrade to the sub-station on the edge of the CBD.

They have to go down the hill ?
It would be interesting to know the cost of the freight and if the trailer cost was included!

    Oooohhhh... Now thats a thought...

Anyone got a spare nuclear power plant handy??? Only need a small one...

I did tell SWMBO that the next time we see a trailer this size, it is going to have our new boat on it. (Insert rolling of eyes, and references to remove my hand from certain parts of my anatomy)

One thing of interest, is that it appears the trailers can be made to any length they need. There appeared to be a connector every 3 axles.

Each axle is braked, and there was a petrol / diesel motor at the front driving a hydraulic pump. This feeds everything from leveling, brakes thru to steering.

As for cost? Me thinking lots & lots of $$$.

I will be interested to see the amount of support vehicles tonight.

That would have come out of Brisbane on Friday night Rex Andrews Transport
weight of around 220t. travel at around 50Khr. that is a small one they took one of 260t to Victoria about 2 months ago.
There is around 25 of them going out of Bris between Easter and Xmas.
I used to escort them out of Bris for Main Roads but got sick of the night work.
Will try to find a photo of a 600t one we took out a few years back.

I did a Bris. Melb. trip a few weeks ago, passed a stationary one at Captains Mountain near Millmeran on the way down (19/6) and had to pull over and wait for one to pass on the way back (3/7) between Goondowindi and Millmeran.

    Cheers, Mick.
