Hi Graeme and no need to be surprised, the battery is down to 12.22v in 3 days so it not holding a charge.

While I will need to replace it, as the puss box is not being used, I’ll take my time and find a battery to suit.

Honestly, if I had not owned an early version of the L322, I would probably just think this RR is a non event as far as a so called luxury off roader goes.

As I did own the earlier version, ( and wished the hell I had never traded it in on this puss box ), I know how much of a leap backwards these new RRs are.

Why would any HONEST vehicle manufacture turn a claimed off roader into nothing more than an all wheel drive and why would they reduce the amount of comfort by reducing the interior cab space.

The failure of both the alternator and the steering lock is just the tip of the iceberg with how Land Rover have taken the world’s best 4x4 and turned it into nothing more than a second rate pimp mobile.

Without exaggeration, these new RRs make LC200 look good.

Furthermore LR couldn’t give a stuff how I ( and quite a large number of Yanks ) fell about being ripped off. Their ideology is “ So what if I’m not happy, there are more than a billion Chinese they can rip off “

    Ha ha, not biting !

Besides having more interior room ,steers nicer, lower running co$ts and Reliability.... it also has a CLUTCH...and GEARS, plus little handles on the doors that have to be wound round-and-round to make the windows work.... Nor can I 'Left-foot brake' if i want to...

And the sound system is'nt as good...or the interior lights as bright. (yet...)

My beef with LR is the disparity between the Marketing Dept's BS....and the reality as experienced by the RR / Disco OWNERS.

No Jap manufacturer has managed such a huge gap.

You probably need to read a few more of the threads on what a 3.0L D4 can and can't do before making such a bold statement as that.

To para-phrase....with decent tyres (yes, even 19s) and an experienced driver, a D4 is rated as better (may only be margins) than any other 4WD (with decent tyres and driver also) in it's class (off-road...on road there is no competition at all).

Even though the D4 has been flogged for the wheel size, it appears more often than not, the true restrictions are the quality of the available tyres. It appears most feel that a smaller wheel (bigger rubber) would improve the range of terrain the D4 3.0l could tackle but that certainly doesn't mean that the truck has suddenly become an AWD.

Probably the main restriction would be the drivers adversity to scratching and denting such an expensive bit of kit, but then the same applies to any new 4WD.....and I'd even suggest a Deefer. Most people would not be keen to fork out ~$50K plus and get it ripped up. If that then is the only arguement people should wait until D4s are old and then go for it. They could modify the bejabers out of them too, if they really felt the need, but I'm sure most wouldn't.

Maybe they should stop making new cars....

As I said, do some reading, especially threads by GGHAGGIS.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

Yes I can see that Superquag ...you didn't bite at all did you?

One question if you don't mind ...how do you get that new fangled invention called electricity into that dark cave you live in with all the other luddites to power up your good ol Commodore 64 PC so you can keep on responding about how crappy all modern LR's are? ...and to keep telling everyone how great your 'old Paj' is.

The modern world can be a scarry place to anyone who is so stuck in the past I guess.

    cheers,
    Terry

... We run the '386 on 'Orgone' energy... comes out of the aether along with Uncle Nikola's no-wires lighting system.

"Clutches" and "gears" are sort-of like 'Torque-converters' and 'ratios' as found in common cars. - Not the same, I'm told, 'cos the "GEAR STICK" is moved by the left arm/hand, which in turn is controlled by a very very complex but self-programming and maintenance-free computer up in the head...

See? - we know some stuff about your new-fangled inventions, and we're really up to date with our Differance Engine and its Linux thingy !

With respect, I would like to put my farthings worth in [yes, I've seen one] I believe the technology comes before the expertise to maintain and sustain it in the nether regions, like Australia. Mechanics have little idea on the finer points of maintaining these new vehicles, and owners even less , how long did it take before the discovery was accepted as a serious off road vehicle for remote areas, some toyota/nissan heathens [Macquarie dictionary- irreligious or unenlightened person] still foam at the mouth when confronted with a real 4wd. If we don't embrace the future, we may as well have horse and sulky's[yes ridden in one of them, Qld is a little bit behind , but we are catching up] I remember complaints about vet costs for horses, nothing changes, stay true to the cause[ and buy a pre ecu defender ] Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
