Leylands were similar but not quite so bad.

Just make you own Landy drive at the house .

I tell SWMBO that it is part of the retirement plan. I will be an oil baron when I'm old and we can dig it all up again.

leaks are just land rovers way of telling you there's oil in it. after replacing the engine and auto in my p38 and every hose under the bonnet (cost 15g) i made it 70k's home from the mechanic b4 my cam sensor started to leak, new oring again and that lasted the next drive till it started to leak AGAIN, another new oring and some ultra copper and now it weeps through the crankshaft bolt through the harmonic balancer. for some stupid reason i had the strange idea that if you replace everything it wouldn't leak, i forgot to look at the badge... one of the new power steer lines leaks now. if you work out how to stop a lr leaking put a patient on it and you will be a millionaire.

Latest diagnosis is surprise surprise leaking steering box and pump. Got a full set of seals and gaskets which my local mech is fitting now waiting to see if that fixes her up.

    Living in hope.

Very happy chappy. Turns out the steering box wasn't leaking (yet). They gave her a steam clean and I have waited for this long to be sure it was ok. Not a single drip - you beauty !!!

It can be done. Now I need to get the driveseal quote.
