The The 12 tonnes DAF LF Hybrid is another option together with the Volvo.
The point is that we need the willing to find a smart transport solution and in Oz it can be a combination of hybrid trucks and electric trains as one of the options.
We have to stop the old attitude of "to hard to fix" and works towards better ideas.![]()
No, Its info from a New Science Magazine. I don't buy them although my wife who is a Science School Teacher subscribes to them, an informative read I must add.
I must also add that taxing me more will do tiddly squat for the planet, as I stated earlier it is gullards adjustment of wealth TAX. (Low income = good carbon output, high income = bad carbon output-Go the gullard way.)
(what did I predict...)
As I said, I am no fan of hybrids/prii, I would prefer a small TDI (e.g. polo) instead. They are optimised for stop-start traffic, so are of course not very efficient for highway use... Most car owners do happen to spend most of their driving commuting in stop-start traffic...
I would NEVER buy a prious.
What evidence do you have that pre 2009 Prii suffered from premature e-batufailure??? The heresay from some mythical NRMA employees???
From what I have heard/read, the extended warranty was to negate unfounded rumours and myths such as you are spouting. That and poor resale due to same.
So - I suggest it is time for you to put up (some stats about battery failures) or shut up?
With more than 100,000 Honda hybrids on the road, the automaker told Newsweek that fewer than 200 had a battery fail after the warranty expired. That’s a 0.002 likelihood. Toyota says its out-of-warranty battery replacement rate is 0.003 percent—or one out of 40,000 Priuses—for the second generation Prius. Based on this rate, and the fact that very few of the second-generation Priuses have been driven beyond the warranty period, perhaps fewer than a dozen have had battery failures after the warranty expired. Replacement rates for the first generation Prius was closer to 1 percent.
And there is more info:
With 32 Prius taxis operating in his Cairns, Queensland fleet of Black and White Taxis, owner Graham Boundy knows the truth about high-mileage hybrids - and it's surprisingly good. Each car racks up about 200,000km (125,000mi) each year. Two of the older examples have managed a lifespan of 350,000km (218,000mi) and 550,000km (341,000mi) before needing replacement of their nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. The only problem even at the end of their battery pack service life was a low voltage reading. The cars have been in service since September, 2005, and Bounds has ordered another 8 to bring his fleet total to 40.
So, I guess that battery problem it is not a drama.
One of the things that brought this debate about carbon tax are that many people would like to put the issue of options to be more efficient in the "Too hard basket"
We have the resouces and the know how to be a smart country and be able to export in the future our solutions and technology.
The ones that will find the nich will be the ones that will make money in the future.
