I love this time in politics-people that dont give a stuff are coming forward.the government is the people not the leaders,if it wa so then they wouldnt bother to let us know what they are doing.

If we go to an election and the greens get more votes as a protest vote--it might be possible--then we all be stuffed.We had years of nobody interested politics and a change of government based on a change to let the leaders think they need to lead not follow.

I like the idea of carbon tax.not the crap they put forward.
I like GST.I cant get a ABN/GST number and dont charge it.
Im happy that tax dodger pay something.
I think the way public service is run is crap.
I cant understand the benifit of public service lets waist the money incase we dont get enough next year.
I want the government to look at pollution-air-water-land-environmental,that includes dumping welfare and mental cases next door.
I want to stop in house training of tradesmen--why cant the do it at school.stuff this universcity dont work crap.
I want to know why if it take rubbish to the scrap metal company I have to pay incometax-if i take it to landfill I pay tip fees.If i put it on the street the council pays people to pick it up.MAKE RECYCLING and SCRAP METAL INCOME TAX FREE.
I'm dead set against privatisation of money spinner public resources with no long term goal.

I'm old enough to rember the 70-80's with the stress of getting a job,having my money stolen by bank interst rates,and the cancelation and scraping of needed infrastructure needed to offer a better standards of life today-and the failed urban planning of the green type movements.
the green's didnt come out with the fairies.they have always been there.

I live hr north of newcastle having return home because of the cost of living V wages in a dead state.I'm fed up with the mess the socialist have made in the city starting in th 80's.not last week.they publically planed to bankrupt property owners to allow the university and latte set to cheeply aquire the waistland.so what have they done now the city is stuffed-nothing-the morons have run off to the mines to get the coal money.

How do you get only $100-200 dollars. The welders pay more for electricity so in addition to of the aluminium being much more expensive the welding of that aluminium is also much more expensive. The transport of that aluminium is also much more expensive after carbon tax, and the transport of the finished boat to the shop where you buy this boat is also much more expensive with carbon tax. And the lights of their showroom are much more expensive to run so they will add that cost to the price, hence the price of the boat will be increased by much more than the $100-200 you mention.

How much is much?

Then the business will change those expensive halogens downlights for LED or CF downlights, they'll etc...... hopefully thats what the tax will achieve - to make people bother.

You have to look at the magnitude of all of those though...

500kg of Al ~ 3.5 Tonnes CO2e
Electricity for welding and lighting ~ a few kgs CO2e
Welding wire production ~ a few grams CO2e
Transport - fuel not included for 2 years
(however 2.6 kg CO2e/L when it is included)

So - the only significant factor is the Al.

I think a lot of the confusion is that many people dont understand the above.

Yes, only if the ACCC do their job, which if you look at fuel pricing they dont do much of a job at all..

Speaking of fuel, why isnt all fuel included right from the start ? I ask this seriously, only because I haven't heard why fuel was exempt to start with and why heavy vehicle's start in 2 yrs..

I don't think any of the top 500 businesses as outlined in the policy are into fire reduction burns.

Here is a very good point that Tony Abbott makes about what he thinks of the carbon tax. According to Malcolm Turnbull the Liberal policy under Abbott is oppose the ALP (ie, not the best interests of the country, but to oppose), but I think that Tony has come around with his thinking and now would prefer a more aggressive carbon tax to be implemented.... or he used to think that and how opposes it because that's his best chance of political survival. Mind you, he is suggesting an increase in tax, rather than a carbon tax.
