The Titans are a 250t rated truck. The mass behind the cab is a torque multiplier unit and hydraulic tank and cooler. For military use it's probably a bit oversized unles there is a requirement to carry 2 or 3 tanks etc on each lowloader. A 4144 or the 4166 which the Titans are based on would generally be sufficient. Titans are around $650-$700k a piece so a bit exxy for general transport duties.

I was wondering if any Titans had been sold here in Oz, as Heavy haulage prime movers, they seem to be the truck of choice in Europe, Africa for this type of work, rater like the 6x6 Titan's....

There were 4 contenders 2 USA plus MAN and MB. The two 2 USA brands won all the trials and cheaper to buy and maintain. So how did MAN win?

Politics of course. EU has a rule that says defence has with limited exceptions to purchase from with EU zone. Keeping jobs and investment local.

They cant be that bad if other NATO countries use them, i was amazed to see brand new Iveco 4x4 and 6x6 Trucks all ready for the UK MOD, lined up at L J Jacksons, the MD there told me that many of the new trucks, and plant they store for the MOD never see's service, and if they dont request it, they just sell it on, this i was told happens every month, as stock is delivered from back order, as the MOD have contracted for a said ammount they cant cancel the orders...

Bit of a waste of tax payes money...
