Here are a few more engine shots from Milwaukee. Meyer and Drake "Offenhauser 270" series in various configurations, and a stray V8 installed in a Novi. Not a Novi engine. Can any of you guess what it is?.

except for the drive at the wrong end, you know, simple stuff--
That style of free flow exhaust header was standard race car design until people came up with the concepts of "tuned length", "extractor exhaust", and "equal length" pipes. That Miller is considerably more advanced than aero engines of the era, indeed decades ahead. From 91 cubic inches it probably put out more horsepower than an eight cylinder aero engine with 91 cubic inches per cylinder.

That is a rear wheel drive engine. When Miller designed the justly famous front wheel drive cars, considerable engineering had to be done to turn the engine around. The location and drive of the blower had to be changed to the other end because it came up against the radiator and partially covered the radiator.

No, A Maserati 4.5 litre from a Ghibli. The other Novi there had a small block Chev installed. No one seemed to know how many Novi survive with the Novi engine. There is one in the Indianapolis Speedway Museum, and two more known to be in private hands. The others seem to have disappeared and may be hoarded away in places unknown.

    A few more.

A couple of brass era veterans. I think they are a Stutz and a Mercer but could be wrong.

Two shots of a Miller 183 and a 122. One of these cars badly lunched its diff. Photos of which will be posted.

And a fuel injected Chrysler Hemi.
