On the face of it they seem comparable, except only the D1 mentions "full service history", which is a strong point in its favour. But I guess what you are asking is really which, D1 or D2, is preferable.
It depends what you want. Although the cars look very similar, and have very similar specification, there are major differences.
The D1 is effectively a downmarket version of the RR Classic, with, in this case, a relatively new diesel engine that is ultimately derived from the 1956 diesel. It has the experience of twenty years of production behind it, but some of the features are definitely getting a bit dated.
The D2 is effectively a redesign of the vehicle that updates many aspects of the detail design and provides a completely new engine. Unlike the D1, very few parts are interchangeable with other Landrovers or earlier models (for example, wheels back to 1948 will fit the D1 but not the D2). While this gives a more refined, and in some ways better performing vehicle, not all the improvements are universally seen as plusses. For example, the dropping of the centre diff lock on the assumption that traction control replaced it was so badly received that it was later restored. The other problem is that parts tend to be more expensive, as the production life of most of them was a lot shorter - on the other hand, it can be claimed that you need fewer of them!
Hope this helps
