    TELSTRA MOBILE PHONES

I have just got another Mobil phone, each time some one rings it gives 3 or 4 ring then hangs up and goes to message before I can get it out of my bloody pocket, very frustrating. Took in into Telstra shop tonight to get it adjusted and the girl was kind enough to give me the code to open the length of ring time to the max
The code is if any one wants it is #61*101**30# hope this is usefull to others.

I've had many arguments with them about this issue. They preset the phones to only ring a couple of times before going to voice mail. That way there's more calls and more money. I understand the 'ringout' time is 30 secs if there's no voicemail, spoken texts etc. Any of those add-ons will shorten the ringout time. I've never been given a code and have always been told it's a 'network setting'. Perhaps they're getting softer after the bad press they got recently from the telecommunications Ombudsman. Thanks Hodgo I'll store that one for future use

I rang Telstra recently and the Indian techie I got did the adjustment at his end, 30 seconds is the max he could do, is OK.

Got my work phone set to 10 seconds. It gives me an excuse to screen my calls.

While we are on the subject, can anyone answer this?

I bought a Samsung cell 'phone in the USA and it uses AT&T. On my return home I tried my Australian 'phones SIM card in the USA 'phone and got a message "wrong card". Does anyone know if and how I can get the US 'phone to work here? My Oz 'phone is four years old and the US one is much more modern and just nicer to use.

The default ring time setting is 15 seconds (for Telstra). This time setting can be extended manually, up to a maximum of 30 seconds.

    quoted from elsewhere..

To adjust the ring time before calls are diverted , just dial the following command on your mobile:

    ** 61 * 101 ** (Enter No of seconds required) # SEND

You can insert any phone number instead of 101 eg 038627xxxx.

You can also change the diversion type by changing the 61 as shown:
    No Answer 61
    Unreachable 62
    Busy 67
    Unconditional (all calls) 21
But leave out the time: eg
*21*101# will divert all calls to MessageBank.
