I could,, but whats the point.
you already have this mindset against councils.
I think a lot of councils problems come down to the paper pushers and lack of communication. One such case was a tennis court in a small town that was locked and fenced, accessible to the local clubs or whoever hired it out. the vandals cut a hole in the fence (the usual 8 or 10 foot high one you find round a tennis court, just a mesh type fence) so they could sneak in and play. This remained this way for ages and endured many complaints but was never fixed. Why? Who knows. So the complaints keep rolling in until one morning the council turns up, full crew with several trucks, cuts out the section with the hole and does a beautiful job of replacing the section of fence. about halfway through the job a second crew turns up, sits and watches while the first crew finishes, cleans up and leaves, at which point out come the bobcats, down comes the entire fence and up goes a whole new one.
Explain that for logic.....

I think alot of kids these days are more influenced by their social group than their parents, I could go on how it was in my day (& I'm in my mid 30's) and compare it to todays kids but thats just how it is these days. I've done things in my youth that I know were wrong but I/we sure as hell didn't gone destroying public/community property. Has the fabric of society been soiled - probably but times change and as we've seen there is always someone else to blame for anything, gone are the days of addressing the issue in the home - how can parents take responcibility for their kids when they not sure where they are (have you never you'd be at X when you were at Y?) kids aren't exactly going to tell you when they've been r soles in public (I never did). Basically growing up I was taught every action has a reaction, only you can choose between a positve or negative one regardless what your mates do. Regarding council workers - its like any industry, you have those who take pride in their work and do an honest days work & then their are those who'll put more effort into getting out of work then the effort required to do the work. I was a council worker & was probably the fittest I've ever been - now I'm in mining supervising & putting on weight as I'm no longer field based & its exactly the same deal - still do an honest days work just not as visable.
Apology Accepted.
Shire WORKERS do not like been refered to as being lazy.
Sure in my position I do get some days that its hard to justify my hours, its part of the job. Most days I work thru smoko and lunch. We have had 4 of our crew working for another Shire since February, clearing storm damage with our Excavator and Loader, that team of 4 has earnt the Shire over $350,000 in private works.
Today was a bonus, spent the day test driving new graders, front end loaders and other such toys.
I get a new grader shortly, plus we are looking for a new loader.I get a better than fair say in what I get.
