I wasn't going to dignify your post with a response until someone convinced me to change my mind.

Let me try and address your concerns.

Yes I've been bogged, taken the wrong line, had a crack and gone pear shaped as you put it; but I, and most other 4wd enthusiasts, don't go out deliberately looking for poor condition, muddy roads just to endeavour to get through them at all cost.

The two and only 4WDA photos I commented on were the first one on the page; where it appears the driver is attempting to burrow through to China, and the one of the chap who drove, intentionally it appears, into the bog off the side of the road.

I merely commented on how I perceived the photos. But, perhaps, as you suggest, I do judge without the full facts. In which case, I'd be no different to yourself. If only 4WDA had not removed my posts the original posters may have had a chance to clarify any misconstrued observations on my part. And you would have been able to read exactly what I had written in regard to the photos before mounting your high horse.

Contrary to your conjecture, I do have an idea where both photos were taken. The white Patrol was behind 'Morisset Train Station' as indicated in the text. It would be a state owned road used primarily to maintain power lines.

The other looks like a rain forrest, but it is hard to tell for all the mud. It's unlikely to be someones private land as the poster writes, "you may know this track". If it was 'his' land would he not have said, "This is on my property". Anyhow, people tend not to destroy their own backyards with 4WD's. They go somewhere else to do it.

I only have issue with people who intentionally go out of their way to wreck trails and often in wet conditions where the resulting damage can be more severe.

I'm not about to analyse your holiday snaps. But I will point out that I'm amused yet fail to comprehend why you added the beach shot.

You also asked, "Why mock...... Am I 15?"

Mokery is not just for children Stevo. How could you suggest that when surely you can't help but be aware of your own irony. You ask "Why mock? and then go ahead and mock me in the same sentence by suggesting I am a child.

You sure do use use a lot of, "....." in your writing. Is that you pausing to think?
Look, as much as it is enthralling for the masses to see a stoush....I'm not going to get into a ****ing contest. I am right and you are wrong . By your own admission...you made comments to stir....or what is known "trolled" ( inverts just for you) at 4WDA..to what end??

As we all know...4WDing can encompass many things.....the thing is....some of the things we like to do......we are made to feel bad by those that do not like what we do.

Sadly..some of you are buying the lines fed by greenies and their ilk.........."My goodness....look at that person driving through a mud puddle". The actual action of driving through a mud puddle or scrambling up a rutted incline...IS NOT WRONG....regardless of where it is.

Ok....so driving through some thick goo ain't ya cuppa tea...fair call...but why bag a fellow 4WDer because they love doing it? That I do not get. Personally...and is well known on trips...I'll belt through the smallest puddle....mainly cause the kids are 'Go on Dad". Cripes...hang me out to dry!!

Garry as Dennis notes.....I'm more likely to be having a laugh than slapping someone....keep bringing it up though if you want .

    Regards

    Stevo

If people already have a vehicle engineered with larger tyres or more lift then what is being proposed, will they need to re-engineer it to the new rules or not?
Can they keep running their set up providing they don't let the rego run out?

I seriously doubt that The RTA would recall every previously engineered vehicle for re inspection. If they do I'm moving to Russia.
Unless VSI50 specifically bans portals I think you would be ok anyway.
We have more or less established that 9.00x16 (35''to 36'') tyres were available as a factory option on Landrover series 2a,3, 110 and Defenders, so the additional height of these should not be included in the lift restrictions, and as Diana pointed out on another thread, you could go to 37'' or 38s with the 50mm extra allowance..your Volvo portals had 35'' as standard, and at around 120 mm portal drop they fall within the allowable limit, and would be an interesting argument as it is neither a suspension or tyre lift.
    Wagoo.

.Ron....what a stupid comment...typical response from Stevo with violence. Feel free to hunt down all my responses with violence and post them for all to see.
Clubagreenie......a tool......c'mon...been called worse than that . For the first time feel like I am surrounded by a bunch of old fuddy duddies .

Right.........now I'm not going to apologise when someone slam's many of my mates who drive modified vehicles as Extreme did. Some of the best driving I have seen is by those mates in those vehicles. Terrain that most of us would poo our pants at the thought.

The old..."back in my day" with skinnies etc.........or the "I've done this track/trip with just yadda yadda" is irrelevant. Some of the iconic trips around are being done in AWD's for goodness sakes. So for the average trip/track...your generic 4by will do it. As noted where I have seen these monsters crawl up....the average 4by has spluttered and scraped to get up the same spots.

Yet we say the larger trucks cause all these problems. FFS...mother nature causes more track damage than any 4byb ever could. As an avid 4wder I love doing trips but also tackling much harder terrain..terrain that on occasion makes me almost poo my pants and really gets the adrenalin going. Already with 265/75's on my D2....is illegal......as with most other D2's. Look at this pic...does it look illegal to you?? Does that look like a monster truck to anyone??

Bottom line for me.....is whether you are a dirt tourer or a crazy mountain climbing freak............your all 4wders to me...regardless of make, magazine etc....hence should stick together...in my book. So...yes...when I read a comment having a go at other 4WDer's....I'll defend. As for the rules......and thanks to BK for the info.......they are still rules looking to be implemented and if so.......like law...is setting a precedent. What will be next??

    Regards

    Stevo
I dont see violence in your posts but I do see that you like to crack out a photo of your car every opportunity..

I see guys who drive miles into the bush and leave their smashed beer bottles and discarded rubbish behind. I guess for them, It must have been so much 'fun' smashing bottles and littering the landscape with no one around that could tell them not to.

    Doesn't make it right.
Don't know why you changed the subject to bottles and rubbish, but on the subject of tracks, mud and what our vehicles do, IT IS FUN!!!

Can't really prove it, but it is, in the same way that Mt Everest is, (and Alma Cogin isn't)

You might try and pull that stick out ya bum and try it, you might enjoy yourself

Keep fightin' the good fight - Gav
