i was having a joke with steve, and thought it was obvious i was not commenting on anything other than that.

that said, i don't think steve got upset, maybe spurred into action, but that is a whole different thing to upset but will bow to those that think otherwise...

i cant believe so many get so upset with him to be honest.

Have a read of the 4WDA forum on the subject. There was a link in the email that some of us got. (Am I allowed to post the link here?)

Those guys make stevo68 sound like he's on valium! The NSA computer is probably going into melt down with all the 'key words' they are triggering. Fortunately most of them are so angry they can't spell correctly so they might avoid a visit from ASIO.

For the record I agree with the proposed changes but, does any one know why Land Rover persisted with a 29" tyre on Discovery & Range Rover yet a 32" tyre on the 110/Defender?

Measure the diff to ground clearance of a Disco on 29's...

Now measure same on Defender on 32's (with Sal diff)

    About the same

Now measure same point on a GQ, GU, 80, 100 series and you'll see that the "baby tyred" Disco has the same ground clearance as the Jap stuff...

Personally I think they should enforce all current rules to the limit...

Make engineering a smoother exercise and enforce its use.

Build what you want, but it must be:
    -Safe
    -Legal
    -Certified

Those that bother are usually sensible users

Besides Slunnie & Myself... Who of you is running an engineered lift / brake / tyre combo?

thats what VSI 50 and VSCCS are all about.

if they both go national (more vsi50 in this context) then some people gain some room for "nominal" modifiactions and others loose some as the whole lot comes on line. Everyone gets easier access to getting mods certified..

If it was me then Id be releasing both as a single entity and that way places like ARB + TJM who sell 3000000 inch + lift kits for toymotas and whatever else can not only legally sell you your currently needs to be engineer approved lift kit, they can legally certify the mods.

mind you ID also probably enforce the application of RFID scan chips with the mods as part of the blue plate so that when mr Plod picks you up he can just wave the scanner over the hood and presto legal mod or not, no questions asked.

    That's mere...ain't it .....just I like I am not really 90 kilo's...more like 85kilo's......or I am packing 9 inches as opposed to...well...for me to dream about .

I'll have to show the missus that comment....she'll be out to a chemist to get some for me in the blink of an eye .

What some more knowledgeable folk may know......why is this not an issue in other countries....look at the US for example. Is this not another example of becoming a more and more nannied country? How does a 4 inch lifted, 35 inch tyred vehicle really affect the average joe.....compared to an umpteenth tonned truck on the highway?

I spend alot of time driving and it is very rare you see a massively modified truck. The main time I do...is on a club trip with me mateys. I see these rules affecting moreso the average joe 4wder who may want that extra inch of lift/ next size up tyre. Not to be OTT.....but for added clearance/ safety off road. For Smokey I would like to put an extra inch in lift and go up a size but cannot under current or future laws. From what I understand I could with the lift...but not the tyres.

I was just over at 4WD Action forum, and reading some of their responses to the VSI50 proposal. I also browsed through their "show us you bogged' photos.

I decided to comment on two photos . . .

Their web forum editor promptly deleted my two posts, simply because I criticised, rather mockingly mind you, the behaviour of a few people who were clearly being selfish, reckless hoons and destroying the 4wd tracks for the rest of us.

These are the same people that are making it easier for the government to pass restrictive legislation such as VSI50.

Perhaps if 4WD Action was a little more tolerant of opinions in conflict with their own we might see some more discussion actually opposing such driving practices that destroys the trails and endangers the future of the pastime.

Is this guy digging a mine shaft?

and look at the chap further down in the white Patrol.

Could he not see a better line to take? Oh, I get it! He drove into the deep muddy section on purpose.

    Brilliant.

Your kidding right....I am on a 4WD forum....am I not. Have you never been bogged...taken the wrong line...wanted to have a crack at something and its gone pearshaped?? What are your views on these......

Where are these pics taken.....am I destroying nature? Or have you jumped on a bandwagon without much thought? Why go mock...what are you...15? Maybe you don't like getting your car dirty....or driving in mud......many do.

I have plenty more pics like you will find on 4WDA.....what you fail to realise/ understand is you have no clue at all where those pics were taken. What if someone was having a lark in their own back paddock but in a NP drives completely different? You judge without facts .
