I think a lot of professions would have differing slants on drug use. In the military it is 100% forbidden (you get caught you are out)

The mining industry when I was in aus a few years ago was 50/50 on enforcement meaning is was not allowed but only certain sites conducted random or more stringent testing. What is the latest status on this, I recall seeing on the news that drug testing was allowed at any workplace now?

Train drivers have strict rules on this plus pilots and truck drivers but the level or ease of enforcement varies.

Why did it stop??? Had a workplace back injury and the meds did not match or mix with the weed.Had some very interesting experiences.
Anyhow,if I was drug tested whilst on compo(2 years) it could have stuffed my claim. The weed worked MUCH better than the prescribed meds for relief.
All the stuff I smoked was organic,Im a very good vegi gardener.
I believe the problems now with dope is all the hydro crap and what they pump into it.
    Do I now smoke,no.Since quitting,smoked 2 cones 4 years ago.Organic dope addictive,not at all.
Brain damage??? I run a crew of road workers and operate a grader,no I dont think so.
Would I take it up again???
No not at the moment, mates smoke it around me and offer,I dont do it.In retierement HELL YEAH!!!! But only my own.

Andrew, I concour with what you are saying in a lot of respects Government are not keen to go against big business (pharmasuticals are a huge money pit) they poohed their pants trying to get a bit of cash back for the country in regards the miners(pollies are too worried about the pay they will get in retirement) so where they could stop wasting coppers time chasing the bloke for a bit of bush weed (not talking Hydro)they keep the pressure on, there have been medical testing to prove the benefits of tintures from cannabis and the by-product awesome rope and textiles and less environmental impact than cotton or petroleum based textiles, so it is indeed beneficial.
Hydorponic weed is something else altogether and definately has pshychotropic effects and the sychosis it produces can trigger someones schitzophrenic tendencies.
I would suggest that operating heavy machinary under the influence of any substance probably isn't too cool

Enybody ever worked with a speed freak or pill popper when they are coming down???? give me a stoner as a workmate anyday.

In my line of work as shall we say part of the West Australian government Hotel Group, Dope is the minor evil for kids today the interest seems to be go fast or go slow stuff( Australia is rife with the stuff Parents be warned!) that is directed into the bloodstream 'get my meaning' and the effects are devastating comparatively, If you don't succumb to the drug of choice the bbv(contracted from sharing delivery equipment) will see you off when your liver is knackered it is very worrying stuff.

I think anyone basing facts on their experience using it (ie test sample of one) or even them and their mates are either stoned or do have the brain damage they say doesnt come from it....

I think GHB is the most dangerous drug in the market because its potency varies so greatly and the difference between "therapeutic" and "toxic" doses is very small leaving little margin for error. It's main symptom of overdosage is respiratory depression or respiratory arrest. Hence the risk of death is high and the treatment requiring an intensive care unit and an available ventilator, sometimes for days.

Heroin while dangerous, has a specific antidote so treatment is quick, effective and cheap.

Cannabis remains high on my list of most dangerous drugs because (as mentioned before) it has a potential to trigger psychosis in some people, exacerbates aggression when taken with alcohol, (also respiratory depression) and heavy users don't see the damage cannabis use has on their lives.

I fully acknowledge medical use of cannibis, the same as I acknowledge the medical/therapeutic use of morphine, heroin (not currently authorised in Au), amphetamines and ketamine (the horse tranquiliser also used in humans).

Tobacco is up there for danger and alcohol lower my list of danger, the legal and illegal nature of the particular drugs largely irrelevant to my scale, although I have strong opinions on cost Vs benefits of the "war on drugs".

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Here in California it is legal with a prescription. Prescriptions are as easy to get as $60 and complain about a headache. once you have a 'scrip you're allowed to grow 6 plants, now if you know what you're doing 6 plants is way more than needed. my neighbor at my vacation property grows the stuff, 10' trees with a yield of 30lbs or more per year. I myself do not partake but find it very interesting....

In my last job, we had both random drug and alcohol testing. I only ever had one drug test at work but had plenty of alcohol breath tests. Failing either would have one taken off the job and possibly sacked.

But that's not the reason I don't do drugs. They were around 45+ years ago when I started work - a couple of blokes used MJ but most of us never did.

I have no reason nor desire to try it now.

I am, however, surprised at just how many on here are willing to say they are users.

Last night I was watching an RBT we recorded a couple of weeks ago. The police were doing roadside drug tests and one old biddy was getting upset calling Australia a fascist state and telling the cops they couldn't search her - she was a grandmother, etc. whilst being searched and the car being searched after the cops smelled weed. I was muttering to myself "Go get her!" and "Shut up you stupid old bitch - you deserve it!".

I thought at the time that I have no idea what pot smells like.

Personally I dont have any time for illegal drug users of any description.
When I hear of a druggy overdosing, I think good, another dickhead off the street. I also feel the same when I see bits of hoon wrapped around a tree, on the news, good riddence. Notice, I used the word hoon, I am not talking about road accident deaths in general. My 19 year old Daughter died in a car accident in Italy back in 1981. Truck collision.
I stopped smoking without any trouble 20 years ago, I thought I'd been stupid to start in the first place. Back when I started, 10, I thought I was big time smoking down the bottom of the yard at Horsley Park School.
What a fool, I probably havent changed much but that is beside the point.
I also dont like faggots, nips and coles or woolworths.
But that's me, eh. ( Ron, I forget whether I need to use a commer in thats ? ).

    Cheers.

    Robert.
