As title states,
Im looking to purchase 4x Britpart springs, shocks a steering dampener plus a bush kit...
Now I know they are really cheap on gear but are they the cheapest for freight aswell?
Ive been quoted roughly about $320 delivery on these items and its not to bad but before christmas I brought a mountain bike in from UK that was around 20kg and the box was HUGE for $180 !
So guru's can I be tighter and do a little better?

Mmm don't want 2 b 2 direct but S#^tpart.... If u are going to the expense of international airfreight... Just do it the once and at least buy good quality ie Genuine stuff... Wasted too much money with Bpart over my early years of rebuilding! If the genuine stuff has lasted this long for a small expense over inferior replacement parts why take the chance... IMHO
Righto so Britpart are no good, I havnt searched enough posts, what I had read so far was they sourced a lot of Landy oem parts from manufacturers and repackaged them?
Ideas on good quality springs, shocks at the cheaper end of the market?
I know you get what ya pay for but im not interested in running Bilstein etc in my fishing truck I save the good stuff for my awd turbo monster![]()
There is a post or 2 on here about a setup that does mates rates.... Reckon they run dobinsons / lovells or the such like... Once I get the engine expenses out of the way on mine I will b going through them.... James
Cheers Inside but at the moment for all the bits I want to replace its still more than I would like to spend, the 110 is a fortnightly toy and I would prefer to spend about half thatso im fine with replacing with oem type parts, may seem silly but ive got way too many projects on the go at the moment...
Any more info like a link in regards to the "mates rates" setup Twodoors?
Hi Davender,
Yes, paddock is expensive in terms of freight if you buy out of the Continental Europe. I was living in Mainland Spain (ridiculous cheap freight) and in the Canary Islands (Spanish also, but ridiculous expensive freight). Bear in mind that you can buy VAT-free in UK (20%, i think), which helps to compensate for the freight.
Regarding britpart, I follow a simple rule: do not buy parts that rotate/friction from britpart, or parts that are in contact with parts that rotate/friction.
On the other hand, I had a disco with britpart springs on it (I think it was +1 inch) and I was very happy with it. I use to use the car for camping and easy weekend trips only, without trailer.
Maybe britpart springs are not the state of the art, or not dependable enough for a military/competition car. But for the use you plan to make of them, it is a good choice. I suggest to paint them on black![]()
Davender,
Probably not the right spot for this but I have 4 shocks off my 2004 defender and a steering dampner. They've done just under 60,000kms and have heaps of life left. I've since sold the 110. I was going to advertise them on Markets section but just saw your post. PM me if you're interested.
Im in North Central Vic, Alexandra.
Cheers,
Hey FFR,
Im was hoping that the Britpart gear may do me for the little use that the ute will see also when offroading or down the beach im not gun ho in my driving style, I like to arrive and return in one peace so perhaps with sensible driving (haha) I might be okay?
Even if I only get a couple of years out of bushes then I dont mind buying better, more expensive gear later on down the track...
Ive only been given an estimate by Paddock so it could go either way
And FFR, you have PM.
