If the basic casting or pattern was made to cater for both the 300 and the 200 tdi of which replacement heads are no longer available, I'm sure there would be a lot more interest.
Bill.
As above, I have made some enquiries through a Chinese supplier about availability of New Cast Iron heads for 300TDi's.
These manufacturers already make Alloy 300TDi cylider heads, the question was asked if they could make the same head in cast iron. I have been asked to come up with a number of heads wanted.
So if you are interested post up a reply.
Of course price would depend on the number required, Regards Frank.
Emails recieved:
Dear Frank,
One factory informed me that they could produce the TDI300 , Attached are some picture in Aluminim.
I am waiting for them to give me the detail and prices. Once we received them , We will send to you.
Could you check if this would be same as you requirements ?
Yours faithfully,
Stodd Song

Frank, I dont want to disgourage you, but I would have no confindence in buying a small run cast iron head from a chinese manufacture that was all sorted out through email. In fact I would not be buying a chinese head unless 100's of other people had run them without problem.
I know people that have gone to China, done prototypes, agreed on materials used, tolernces, QC and fit and finish. More often than not the delivered products do not meet the agreed standards.
If they cant get a agreed spec'd part or material, they will replace with what ever with out asking. If they can make it cheaper, which means a small change to the spec, they will. It is just their way.
Im interested and maybe willing to be a first off guinea pig , In saying this i have not suffered any (touch wood)and i mean any over heating dramas ever and with 300000 ks not even a head gasket (JC) for precaution or periodic maintence , But one does wonder when and if

Depends on costs. Have they given you a table of price vs units ordered?
If it's <10 I can't see them being anywhere near competitive with OE quality aluminium heads from Turners et al.
This company (Chinese) already makes alloy 300TDi heads and you will probably find that most of the aftermarket heads available come from this source (probably Turners as well), they also make heads for Cummins, Caterpillar and many others.
I believe that it would probably take at least 10 orders for it to be worthwhile, I will try and get some more info and I'll post up the address of one of these manufacturers so you can check them out for yourselves.
Wagoo, can you give me details of the differences on the 200TDi heads, I will ask, Regards Frank.
a similar thread on one or more of the international forums like lr4x4.com might be worthwhile to more quickly gauge potential sales.
Frank. I don't know, but read that the position or angle of the injectors was the main basic difference between the 200 and 300.
Bill.
Turner's heads come from Spain and Brazil
Does that mean that they are cast in Brazil or Spain, I doubt that they would cast them, I think you will find that they buy bare castings from China and do thier own machining and fit outs, even if they did their own casting in Spain and Brazil, who's to say the quality is any better than the Chinese, Regards Frank.
Argentina, then Brazil is the home of MWM International, the company that bought the rights to the 300tdi and then built it, and developed the HS 2.8tgv. The 2.8tgv has many superior parts to it than the 300tdi, all made in Argentina and Brazil. It uses Mahle Pistons, made in their plant in Brazil. After seeing the design and finish of the parts in my 2.8tgv, I would much MUCH rather buy a Sth American part than a Chinese one....
