Not much help am I...
I currently have a landy part that I want to sell however I have no idea what it is worth. Mods, is there anywhere on the forum where I can pose that question with the item specifics without getting into trouble? I've spent awhile looking for similar items on Evilbay and the internet and haven't been able to find any as of yet.

Thanks... I think. I had hoped to put it up at a fixed price, from past experience trying that on ebay once people work out you're a couple of hundred kms out in the country they don't bid to an items value. I think the question "how the heck am I going to get that home" comes into play.
We don't permit "what is it worth" threads.

I've seen several on the forum and posted one myself a while ago (and got answers and sold the parts) ?
Here we are a group of Land Rover enthusiasts but we can't help someone out who wants to know what something from a Land Rover is worth ? I realise that following the discussion someone will PM the person involved and maybe purchase the part but is that a crime ?
I guess there is also the situation where a price is suggested and a much higher price is paid for the part on Ebay and the person feels that he was taken advantage of by forum members.
I'd be interested to hear the thinking behind the decision.

Ha, know how you feel. Alice Springs has that effect on people too!
Unfortunately not many LR buyers here so when I have something to sell, I usually check the AULRO markets (which has recently changed for the better but is currently limited in items)
then check online suppliers/auctions and a wreckers price. Considering a wrecker is bound to replace or refund a faulty item, my item should then natuarally be cheaper. ( I dont sell anything I wouldnt buy myself) This usually leaves me with a price about 2/3 of the average wreckers/AULRO Ebay price. If it is a posting size/weight, I usually have no dramas as postage isnt that much different to anywhere else.
If it is too big for post I have to do a bit of ringing around to get some average freight quotes.
I hope this may have helped a little, I have a few things here that I have tried to sell for nearly 12months, (excellent condition and price stuff even with the freight), but most folks usually want these things now and dont want to wait a week for delivery.
cheers

Point 6.
I guess it is to reduce the temptation to talk up its value.
Place it in the Markets and see how you go..
If you worried about selling it too cheaply then maybe place a high price and allow offers.
There is nothing to stop people PMing the estimate to you.
