I find that driving an old car.
On the way back from Adelaide easter, several drivers pulled out and hurriedly screamed past me pulling in front of me just in time only to be passed by me at the next passing lane.
a bloke at a car club i am in told me a similar story on a run to Sydney while driving a Morris Minor van with a Datsun 1400 engine and box.
cars trying to pass him at 140km an hour and then once past slowing down to near the speed limit!!
just because it is an old car...........doesn't mean it is slow

Strange. First they comment on good it looks then they bag it!

That's like patting a dog whilst reaching behind for a brick to hit it over the head.

    Because it's fun

I love when land rover purists would ask who's the Toyota is when coming to buy parts, when I tell them it's the old boys they ask why I doesn't have a land rover? I'd tell them because he wanted something reliable

    That upset some

I don't get land rover owners whinging about everyone else

sorry guys next time you get in a "disarrangement" with cruiser/patrol drivers just remember to say ...if land rovers are rubbish why the heck did the british and the Australian military use them for operations all over the world???? why because they are simple in design therefore simple to repair ..bolt on bolt off

now ive brought my first 1981 RRC 2dr 4sp and i love it despite standard "cancer" issues but the more i work on it the more i love it parts are the only problem

ive had a land cruiser before damn thing nearly killed me just with braking soi sold it ..it cost the guy that brought it of me $25g to fix and thats how i brought it

I`m enjoying reading some of the good news on these forums, because since we started thinking of trading one of our cars in on a Disco V8 (looking around 2003 model) we get the odd raised eyebrow. I've spoken to a popular LR mechanic round here to get advise, and he told me that he gets all brands coming into his garage for repair.
Keep up the good stories, it may be a couple of weeks or so but as soon as I have some pics to post I will.
    Rob.
