But why go to the trouble of stopping and cross the road to tell someone their vehicles crap??,it would be good to have it happen today,I'm looking after my mates dog,his wife is Thai and she named the dog Tom Yum,the things a monster, about 65kgs and when he goes for a drive he takes up the whole back seat, his heads out one window and his arse hangs out the other. My 11 year old son Declan reconds he's ''cool''. Pat
That's unreal Pat, to actually take the trouble to pull over to have a go! It's not just LR's that come under attack, one of the blokes at work who drives a Patrol asked me what's wrong with some Toyo drivers.
I've only had a couple of over the top negative experiences with Toyo drivers, one who got upset because I overtook his Land Crusier, and another guy in a hilux that was bogged on the side of the road. When I asked if he needed a hand he "explained" that he wasn't going to be pulled out by a POS LR, I threw him a bottle of water out of the fridge and told him with that attitude he'd probably need it as he would be there for a while.
Cheers,
going out of your way to sling 'poop' at someones car preference is rather strange....
i must say though...
i get alot more people commenting on how good my truck looks then people bagging it
My most amazing rant at my defender by a Toyota owner was at Bloomfield junction camp site. Which is at the start at the Telegraph tack up at the cape.
I was there in my 90 on our trip around Australia when we camp there for the night on the way to the cape.
I saw this bloke camping next to us in a land cruser. I went to talk to him , as you do to be friendly. He told
Me that when going in a water crossing the temp of the water split his rad on his Toyota. He has been here for a week waiting for a rad to get flown from cairns to Weipa and then bought out to him at the camp site.
After listening to his story he asked me what I was driving
And I showed him the 90 and he started a big rant about how stupid and irresponsible I was to bring a land rover out into the out back
At that point I mentioned we had just done 40,000 ks around Australia and this was the last place on our trip. And I also reminded him I was not the one who was stuck in the middle of nowhere with a broken truck.
I then told him he did not burst his rad with the temp of the engine and the temp of the water. As being a Pom I have raced an engine and then used a bull bar to break ice as I go into deep puddles and rivers and never had a problem with my rad.
I found out late from someone else along the track ( a nice young couple in a 100 series ) that he went into a river too fast and hit a hole and the engine head butted the rad putting a hole in it
Which a lot more likely

I am a bit sick of the make versus make battles people have. In my opinion a good driver in a well set up vehicle will have little trouble no matter what they drive. Like riding bikes, I ride a 12 year old dirt bike and a lot of people cant understand how I can keep up or ride faster than them on their latest model bike. They forget about the skill and experience of the driver/rider.
Yes, some vehicles will do things easier than others but who really cares what others drive if that is what they are happy with.

I agree, who cares – I don’t; I just don’t get the crapcanning, I’m happy to look at (sometimes admire) them all. If I choose to drive a rubish Land Rover thats actually my problem.
I copped it from a wally in the boatclub parking area some time ago. Had just walked the boat (3.1t) up the ramp with the D2 in low range, because we can use low range on hard surfaces. The D2 rear EAS used to get confused and drop down to the stops so when I got to the top of the ramp, I got out and hit the up button and it would sort itself out. This helpful bloke saw the back of the car down this day and came to my rescue, actually running across to abuse the bejesus out of me for being so “f***** irresponsible towing such a large rig with that crapbox” – “you need to get a Cruiser!” were his exact words… I was actually (for once) speechless. WTF.
Anyways, took a while to figure out what was happening with the suspension, as the boat put weight on the very first rollers it would lift the rear of the car (AES dumps air to level), the weight then moves up so there is 250+kg on the ball (EAS says what the hell? Gives up). Figured out if I leave the driver door open a little while loading it was all happy - the adjustable suspension actually adjusting itself, they wouldn't know about that...

I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food
A bookshop is one of the only pieces of evidence we have that people are still thinking
