I have to agree that their service is great - even when I rang them about my increase in premiums they were very open and frank. So if happy with their premium I would be stay with them - still with them for another 3 weeks.

i have been with shannons for quite a few years now, house included and yes i have claimed on both. for the house 1 phone call and send quote to replace food in a freezer that quit no dramas at all. for the car side of things my first 4WD (85 SD33T Patrol) went for a wander on its own demolishing a neighbours front stairs (yes we are still talking) rang shannons, 1 quote needed and the assessor came to my home where the wreck was within a week, looked at it and wrote it off (agreed value), i asked about retention of the wreck and he said it was under 30 years old so no i was not entitled BUT if i wanted to keep it he would give me a price. 2 days later he said $500 for the wreck, i said done, the car didnt even leave my yard. i then took it to a mates panel shop and had it fixed, shannons re-insured it but they did inspect the repaired car first.

when the other neighbour ran into the side of the disco with an outboard fin and holed it he offered to get it fixed through his insurer, NRMA bit of a stuff around as to get it assessed BEFORE i got quotes i either had to wait over a month at the local assessors or take it to Salibury halfway across town to get it seen within 2 weeks!. then it was wait until NRMA contacted me with name of the panel beater doing the job and I had to go and make arrangements with him for the work to start. he sounded dodgy and telling that in the repair i would take 4 hrs to re-weld the NEW panel back in, i said i believe it doesn't need welding or nowhere near that amount. ne he was adamant and he had to wait for the panel to get here from England 4-6 weeks maybe more who knows he said. i was not impressed at all. rang shannons to let them know what was happening to the car and they asked me if i wanted them to take over and i said yes. 1 quote from another panel beating mate, 1 weeks wait for a work slot and bingo in, fixed and very happy with the job, oh and it was $1000 cheaper than the bloke from NRMA.
    sorry for the rant
