Sounds great - enjoy the trip.
Not wet at all while we were up there first 3 weeks in July. Occasional shower or bit of drizzle, but everything was pretty dry and the tracks/roads dusty.
Only place we got significant rain was heading towards Chilli Beach and Lochart River as you drop down from Mt Tozer. Seems to be a permanent rain bowl from what we could tell.

Just a small tip for anyone doing the Cape, or any deep water crossings for that matter..........

Make sure your front number plate is securely attached. There were a LOT of number plates stuck in trees at the crossings which had been ripped off by the water. We saw several cars on the road with missing front plates (Jeeps seem to loose their plates easily) One of our group lost his plate off a Disco and I noticed others in the group which were only attached at the top were bent up by the water.
