Do you carry a little tinny on your roof and what size?

    Hello,

After a recent camping trip I though how good it would be to have a little tinny as a run about, problem I have, is I also tow a camper trailer,

how big can you go with one on the roof of a D2?

How big is yours and how do you carry the outboard?

I had a portabote http://www.porta-bote.com.au/ and it was great - much more stable than my tinny! Only minor downside was the time taken to setup, which was about 10-15 minutes.

    Hi
We have a 3.3 mtr. tinny that sits on the roof with a collapsable trailer that pulls apart and sits under the tinny on the roof rack.. We use this while towing a large van. Get to destination set up van assemble trailer & go fishing. The 15 hp Yamaha motor gets strapped down behind the rear seats & the fuel tank (empty till we get there ). travels in the van.

Works well and you still have the option of launching the boat from the roof rack and not using the trailer.

This set up is great for 2 and the 15hp yamaha sends it along at a good rate of knots, only down side is trailer not designed for long distance towing.

All of this might be for sale soon, Boat, motor, safety gear, roof rack & trailer.

Personally I'd be more inclined to put it on the camper, and then I'd go for say a 3.6m or so that had say a 15 hp outboard, but then that's just me

I prefer to keep the weight down low. You can actually buy tinnie loaders for many camper trailers these days and that would be the way I go...

Keep in mind you're only supposed to have a very low weight on the roof of a Disco aswell

    Cheers
    Will
