Bit warm in Perth today. Widget says 44 in the shade here.

Neighbour calls up "A/C in the shed is struggling a bit". Went over to find a thick layer of ice on the suction line. "When was the last time you cleaned the filter?". It's a cassette, so pop the cover to find 1/4" of grunge. He'd been wiping the dirt off the outside of the return grille to "clean the filter". Probably hadn't been cleaned in 4 years.

    Lucky his fridge was working.

    Too right.

I had a similar some years ago in a Rented house where nobody gave a flying ****.

Installed by a 3rd party some years before, filter built in so impossible to remove, so muggins needed to dismantle the fan coil to do a proper job which had a crap roof space, fan coil jammed into a corner-ish. Long story short. Got job done & contacted the Estate Agent re situation. Left it with them. On reflection I should have walked away but the then tenant was a new mum with child & just home from hospital & it was hot so big hearted bee was able to help. (one of my weaknesses you see ) But it was certainly the dirtiest Filter & coil face I had seen.

Go to them all day at the beginning of summer, two split ducteds on one site a few months ago,3 inches of ice on the suction lines and an igloo in the compresser compartment...
Hasn't worked well for a while they said.

We have a 45KW chilled water coil full of dirt ATM,its 250mm thick,so its not doing my patience any good.
Spray with Cleaner, turn on supply fan to suck it through, leave to soak, presure clean off, turn fan on to pull water through, then repeat, then repeat, and on it goes.
Cant use too much pressure or it will damage the fins.
Anyway, the boys can continue with it tomorrow,i have done my shift.
Luckily its in an outside plant room,so water can run everywhere with no issues.

Also removed both heater banks, they were full of dirt as well, blocking off the airflow, and surprisingly not badly rusty, the plant is around 25yrs. old.
Anyway, pressure cleaned them, will fit them back in tomorrow.

Staff are back at schools, been to two freezer rooms, both at different sites, both at 36 degrees.
Luckily no stock in either, which is good,we are trying to educate our customers to always leave the rooms and cabinets on,but empty.

Yep,i measured it to be sure, rediculous, what were Muller thinking?
I cant remember seeing one that thick ever before.
Its undersized for the job as well, was looking at the pulleys today, with a proper coil clean, and an increase in fan speed, they wont know themselves

Luckily its not one of those old Trane coils that had fins verticle and horizontal, they were a nightmare to clean as well, once they were dirty.

    Cant get a pic,on a high security site,no phones,cameras,etc allowed.

So the garden hose with the spray nozzle must have been too short?

Ah, ok I see. Never saw one of the TRANES but can imagine the trouble to clean that configuration. A kg or two of C4 would have sorted that out for keeps..

How to explain the sound & the mess? Told them a Volcano had shown up. That should do it.

Well some Rental Tenants don't seem to care when it is other people's property. Stuff the lease they signed.

As I mentioned, the filter was "built in" so it became someone else's problem. This woman just inherited the problem.

The occupants will probably be hanging by their fingernails from a table while their feet are 6' away & horizontal.
