MMmm, based on your list you would be about 45 - 50yo but these things can jump a generation too, so let me guess....ummm....19? ...(Let me also guess your parents are about 45-50! and used to pump up the cassette player in the VK commodore......with a bit of " Bus to Bondi!" or "Cold Cold Change!")

Great to see a young-un with good taste.

The only time I saw them was at a Melbourne Uni Union gig in 1983 (I was still in high school at the time). They had just come back from recording Fireman's Curse LP in Germany with producer Conny Plank. They were freaking awesome, I still remember the "gas cylinder" percussion breakdowns. Just loved the stuff they were doing in that period. By the time they released "throw your arms" they'd got a bit too "pub rock anthem" for my tastes...

Radio Birdman's "Aloha Steve and Danno" is one of those tracks that somehow etches itself into your brain...

I doubt these guys will feature in many "greatest aussie bands lists" but they were one the better electronic bands from Melbourne in the early 80's. There is a really brittle, grungy edge to their stuff. saw them play live a few times. This is from an ep they released in 1982.

They have still got it too, have a look at the live performance when they were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, great Aussie Punk band, certainly as good as The Saints.

Close, but alas, no cigar my friend
Dad's mid 60s, take a few of those years off for mum
Cassette player is correct, but it was in a rioja red V8 99 model D2
Only memories I have of our commodore are getting my finger jammed in the door and the colour of it
I pride myself on my taste in music, much better than generic, auto-tuned crap people listen to today

    Greatest Australian Bands

What's going on ? Not one mention of one of the best early Aussie bands , The Loved Ones. Who could forget Gerry Humphries' vocals and charisma.
The biggest single "The Loved One", covered but not surpassed by INXS is in nine four time which is almost unique, (a bit technical but I'm a professional guitar teacher)
    Cheers, Peter T.
