Go to the pound and get about 10 hungry underfed cats. That ought to fix it![]()
I am on the verge of being driven out of my house.....mice!!~!So far I have caught in excess of 25 in the house. They jump over the traps, defy stickyt traps and are generally driving me mad. I have tried those bait blocks which they thrive on. I have resorted to putting some of these blocks on the traps. My latest trick is small pieces of chocolate on the traps... success !!
Pumpkin seeds dont work. The problem seems that the mice are very small and clean off the bait without triggering the trap... and yes the traps are set with hair triggers.. my fingers testify to that.. ANY SUCH ELECTRONIC DEVICE TO DRIVE THEM MAD !!! No, the pied piper does not esist! HELP, Jim

Peanut butter on mouse traps works well.
I agree with goingbush that peanut butter is the bait of choice on traps. But I find Ratsak is the most effective - just put it where mice can get it but kids and dogs can't (cats won't touch it, nor will most native animals).

I found bacon rubbed with garlic and tied to the trap with cotton to be highly effective.

Tie the bait onto the trap with a little strip of ladies stocking, with the knot underneath. They get their nasty little Bucky beaver teeth stuck in the fibers and set the trap off when they try to tug them free. Bye Bye mousey.
An almond tied on thus with a few drops of sesame seed oil will kill many rotten rodents without the need to rebait, just remove carcase and reset.
Don.
Wetting the bait with a couple of drops of vanilla essence brings them out in seconds.
You can buy electric shock traps that kill mice and rats very effectively, go ebay.us or try in Australia, to risky for me to use as a professional if a child or elderly person gets zapped. or you can go to a pesticide seller/produce store and buy DITRAC baits and splash a little vanilla essence on-works brilliantly
Rodents are averse to the smell of peppermint. Smear some cheap toothpaste around, particularly around holes and vents.
All good ideas. I have used peanut butter but the darn things lick it off. If you see the size of some of these things they wouldn't be heavy enough to push the trap tongue down. Jim
