Sounds as if things have gone downhill - both my Landrovers have captive caps on chains, as has every car I have ever owned except for the 1956 VW and the Laser. I have never lost a cap, but I seen the odd cap sitting on top of a bowser!

Get a replacement with a key lock. You'll never drive away again without it if the ignition key is also on the bowser..

Try Supercheap Auto. I was in one on the weekend and they have a reasonable selection.

If you're stuck late at night because you only notice it when refilling (when your last fill was 500km back along the hwy) -
just remember that most servos will have a cardboard box of caps under the counter which have been left by previous customers - ask politely and they will give you a look through until you see one about which you can say "that looks like mine - can I try it?" - if it fits, thank them by buying some fuel or an icecream and it's yours![]()
Got one from repco down the road from me for $19. Funny thing is the guy checked his computer and advised he does not have one for a defender 2003. I told him i was under the impression most caps are interchangeable. He gave me one to try and it fits sweet as! The only catch is the cap says 'unleaded fuel only'..... Here is the model nr in the pictureAttachment 54287

Mine says unleaded too so maybe when some arsehole pinches my diesel expecting it to be unleaded they might learn
we get about 2 fuel caps a week, they very rarely come back for them
Is it just me, or are there a LOT of people here that seem to have knowledge on where to buy replacement caps for their LR's ?
Just sayin... LOL![]()
I always sit mine on the tyre so if I ever forget. Won't be able to go back.
