Fuel Cap, I'm not the first...

    Hi All,
Yes bugger, left my fuel cap at the service station and some body took it so they claim (i'll keep an eye on evilbay... lol).
Can I get any one from the UK as I'm not sure if they take the VIN number from South African made Defenders in consideration?
Where else in AUS can I get one (beside expensive land rover after sales)
    cheers

If it is the plastic screw with key lock CBC make one that fits and is even yellow to indicate diesel. I dont have the part number on me but there were only 2 and fairly obvious which one fits. Most car accessory stores will have one. I got my last 2 from Supercheap $18 I think.

When Lindsay was told to rotate the wheels on his XR6 the other day I saw a fuel cap release tag in the boot so I pulled it.The lid pops open and hello,no fuel cap.Lindsay tells me it never had one and he thought the flip lid was the cap
Brain the size of the planet and he came up with a story like that

I don't know where to get a new cap, but I have a suggestion about how to avoid losing the next one.

With vehicles that don't have a locking cap, I hold the cap in one hand while I hold the nozzle in the other and refit the cap before I return the nozzle. In other words, don't let the cap out of your hand. That system has worked for me for almost 50 years.

With the Defender cab/chassis and its locking cap, I leave the keys in the keyhole in the cap so I can't drive off without replacing the cap.

Allan, my method of not losing a cap is to sit it on the drivers seat, bit of a PIA if you forget though, Regards Frank.

You can get a replacement cap from Rimmer Bros in the UK. Give them your VIN to ensure you get the right one.

No matter what the problem - there's a solution. You've just got to find it.
