    Anyone got a canoe?

We're heading up to Boreen Point for Christmas with the kids and BIL and his partner.

Weeds has kindly offered to lend me his 3 seater canoe, and having another 3 seater would allow all 6 of us to spend a bit of time on the water.

So, if anyone has a 3 seater canoe, and is willing and able to lend/hire it for the week between Christmas and NYE, I'd be most appreciative!

    Regards,
    Ranga

    G'Day Ranga.
Sorry, would offer mine, but we'll be using it ourselves.
Are you planning short trips or a run up to Harrys' Hut?

If not up to a big paddle, I strongly suggest driving up there with the canoes. Some of my best moments on water were on the upper reaches of the Noosa paddling on the ebony (tannin rich) water with all the wildlife around!

I am happy to provide my Activity plan (personal use only) for a return paddle from Boreen to Harrys if you like.
If you aren't familiar with the Lake, you need to know that a weather eye is vital. Cootharaba is quite shallow and a fair chop can whip up if there is any strong winds. Don't be out if there is any chance of a storm coming.

Lastly, Please ensure that all are wearing PFDs that fit. They are a pain until someone (particularly any kids ) is in the drink!
    Cheers, Dave.

    Thanks for the advice.

Never been to Harry's Hut, so hoping to have a look around. Have no real knowledge of the place, but will have the GPS which combined with a map should help. You're activity plan would be appreciated. We'll be keeping it pretty simple, given the youngsters are only 3 and 5. Being a boaty, I've already PFDs for everyone.

but make sure every one, especially the kids & weak swimmers are wearing the PDF. Canoes can tip over.

Lots of boats have gone down without the occupents having their PDF on.

I have been a Kayak padler, and it is very rare for me not to wear PDF, and even then I carried PDF in the Kayak and wore a helmet.

I'm very safety conscious, and the kids have had many lessons to learn how to swim/stay afloat.

Was surprised to see Goodtime are about half the price. Not sure if I'm comparing apples with apples though.
