I don't think there is a definitive answer to the original question, I agree a lot with some of the other posts including this one by Loanrangie, the Moody Blues and the Doors are excellent groups along with The Cars and ZZ Top, so how can you come up with one single song as an answer?? A real favourite of mine is Roy Orbison, he put out some great music. John Farnham in the "Whispering Jack" Album was also excellent. I remember seeing him in Newcastle 20 years ago when he had long hair, what a great showman and singer.

The "Steve Miller Band" brought out great hits such as "Jet Airliner" and "Abracadabra".

Totally agree, its personal choice and the ones i picked are what really grabbed me when i first heard them.

International: Eagles - Take it to the limit.

Australian: Hunters and Collectors - The Holy Grail, or
Goanna - Solid Rock.

(I can't pick between those two)

For lyrics, possibly Dylan's The Times They Are a-Changin.
For sound, all of Joni Mitchell's Shine album is just lovely.
