Sad news and sudden. We now have a pair of lovely 4 month old puppies. We lost our cherished golden retriever a while back.we may move on but we don't forget them. Hang in there mate.

They are wonderfull loyal companions and we get so attached to them, and they to us. Sadly they do not have the same life span as we do.
It always hurts when we have to say goodbye to them!

    My wife sent me this...
It's the last photo ever taken of her.
She's happy and relaxing in the lounge on Thursday night...

    Very sorry to hear that.

On the flip side, at least it was quick and painless by the sound of it...

Sorry to be made aware of your loss Mike,it seems that the bedside visit was to say goodbye,as dogs and cats will often do that, we have had dogs (pedigree breeders) around since 75 and a couple have done similar things to that

Sorry to hear about your mate, we grow attached to them. Could it have been a tick? Bob
I’m pretty sure the dinosaurs died out when they stopped gathering food and started having meetings to discuss gathering food

so sorry for your loss RIP beautiful samoyed. They are such a big part of us, fill our hearts up, and the scale of sorrow we all feel when they are called back to rainbow bridge is a measure of just how much they mean to us. This poem will probably make you cry, but also soothing at the same time. Someone passed it on to me once, I do not know who wrote it but here you go.
    LAST NIGHT

I stood by your bed last night,
I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying,
You found it hard to sleep.

    I whined to you softly
as you brushed away a tear,
    "It's me, I haven't left you,
    I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast,
I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times,
your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today,
    Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels,
I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today,
You tend it with such care.
    I want to re-assure you,
    that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house,
as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you,
    I smiled and said " it's me."

    You looked so very tired,
    and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know,
    that I was standing there.

    It's possible for me,
to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty,
    "I never went away."

    You sat there very quietly,
then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening,
I was very close to you.

    The day is over...
I smile and watch you yawning
    and say "good-night, God bless,
I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you
    to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you
and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you,
there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out...
then come home to be with me.

If there's anything you can take comfort in Tombie, it's that she died in her favourite spot with those that clearly loved her to bits, as opposed to staring down some headlights on a cold highway
