I've just turned 42, so not young, dumb and full of uhh.. immaturity and I'm no old fart either but I'd prefer to doing the first track any day.

Obviously it's a track that is open for the public to use and considering the terrain I doubt any lack of being a bit free with the right foot would get you through it.

Environmentally, you want to take a low pass over the Pilbarra in WA, magnificent country but the devastation occurring there is frightening - Who let that happen? Some of our mature and wiser seniors (Notice I said "some") I doubt any in that first video had any input in it.

Different games for different people, some people fly pigeons, others shoot them.
Which is right? Depends who you ask.

With a 5 min search, here's a vid on youtube I think is worse than the first one.

It's an extreme comparison, with and your first video focusses on more of a "tuff trip" type exercise, whereas the second is aimed at more of a touring crowd.
Look at the way the fella in that (quite nicely) modified rodeo simply idles up most things.
Who can honestly say they haven't spun a wheel while offroading?
I sure have, probably more so than those boys.
Yes, with the rock type music and the fast pace of alot of what they're doing, it's easy to think "oh look, hooligans". When I first watched it I wasn't terribly impressed.
But you put it next to old timers and families on customer drive, with nice pleasant music and smiling faces, it does the comparison no favours.
It's not a fair comparison, replace the second video with the one I just put up and tell me which seems more damaging to you.
    Cheers

Didn't really see much wrong with that either ,
The only reason you would not see someone driving a Landrover the same way is it would be broken on the first track .

I've driven most of the tracks in the first vid and in the wet wheel spin is going to happen .
Most of the track are alot steeper than they look not something you would drive a d4 up .

I agree with most of the posts, no real comparison between the two videos in terms of tracks etc.

My only real comments are that the white Patrol in the mud near the biggining is a bit of a and that some of the observers really are putting themselves in harms way, there is one spot where the white Suzuki is struggling up a rocky bit and a guy goes down Into the track behind him to take a photo, he is a temporary citizen. Also agree with someone else who pointed out that here was one section which was full of large sticks/small logs which could have done a lot of unnecessary damage.

All I can say is that had they been in a D3 it would all have been done with much less fuss

Apparently not, Grover reckons D3/4's wouldn't be able to make it up those tracks. ....

Bugger! It would seem I've wasted my money on buying Land Rovers to go bush bashing, I should have just bought a old Suzuki or worse still a half wrecked Hi-Lux and modified one of them. ...

    cheers,

All I can say is that I was on a track not dissimilar from some in the first video a week ago and initially my driving looked like that of some of them until I worked out I was in grass, gravel sand mode rather than rock crawl. Once I figured that out my driving looked much more like that of the 2nd video even though the track was still 1st video

the 2nd video is on a track where all those things have been cleared away.

This is why our tracks are ruined, Idiots like this...

If I was buying a vehicle just for bush bashing then an old Suzi with a few mods would be quite high on the list....they are dynamite in that stuff!

Most of the guys in vid 1 weren't too bad.
That rodeo and the blue Hilux were particularly impressive.

The thing is many 4x4 owners, even many LR owners don't rate a late model Disco's off road, standard they are better off road then most people realise, usually much better than most anything else that is also standard. Add some decent mods and they become quite excellent off road.

While a ballon tyred Suzuki and a heavily modded Hi-lux can also be very impressive, when they are standard they are not that good.

    cheers,
