Sorry to hear about this Sheerluck. Its not good.
Can I assume your compensation lawyer is currently lodging the claim on your behalf for all expenses plus loss of earnings and pain and suffering for the rest of your life? That's why companies have insurance, you know. Don't be a martyr.

It may surprise you, but no, as it stands I have no interest in suing the company. For me, it is a measure of how good an employer is when something like this happens. So far, even though they were a little slow coming to the party, I have no major complaints and don't feel the need to go running (or even hobbling) to a lawyer.

However, I reserve the right to change my mind

Just make sure your doctor has it all documented for future reference. Sad, but necessary.

    Hi Justin

They tell me sheerluck still hiding inside the cupboard, it's something to do about his new low height.
But we are all here trying to rectify this lack of height, ---- by pulling his leg!!!

Dave, you are going to need physiotherapy and its actually your choice, may I recommend Artius to you. extremely professional organisation. The nearest to you being at Oxenford Shopping centre. I did about six months rehab with them in 2010/11.

Really good, thanks. Now nearly 4 weeks on from the op, and all is going very well. Having feeling in my right leg and foot all the time is a novelty that will take a long time to wear off. Sitting for anything more than 30 minutes at a time is still uncomfortable, but it will take another couple of weeks for the swelling to go.

Physio started this week (with a local therapist who is superb), and will ramp up into a full rehab and gym program as soon as I'm able to handle it.

Largely pain free, and no more pill popping, apart from anti-inflammatories.

So there's been gains and losses. I've lost half an inch in height, parts of a vertebrae, most of a disc and 7 kilos in weight. But I've gained a feature that looks like someone has extended my bum crack halfway up my back (or at least a 5 inch scar down my lower back ), and as Arthur pointed out, I'm now closer to being able to pull my socks on with my teeth.

The rehab program had already been agreed by Workcover as being necessary, laying on my back for 3 months has meant that what little strength and stamina I had has vanished.

My local(ish) physio is excellent, and has some superb credentials, having worked with several big name sporting teams and the British Army. I'm sure it won't be long before I'm back to normal!
