Sounds like you caught it just in time Davo, it's probably only one wrong twist or jolt to get from where you were, to my current mess.
The ride home yesterday was the most uncomfortable I can ever recall being. Mercedes Benz make good seats, but even a feather bed would not have dulled the impact that the Mount Lindsay Goat Track was having, to the point that I could not get out of the car for the second scheduled stop. And only several doses of some wonderful pharmaceutical products made me stop feeling like crying a few hours after getting home.
But still, 2 weeks now of 'gently mobilising' as it's described on my discharge form, which means lying down a lot and doing some exercises every couple of hours. The kids are still sympathetic enough to bring a cup of tea on demand, hopefully that will last a bit longer yet.
And unlike you, Davo, I am 20, in fact I have over 21 years experience at being 20![]()

Yes, I thought I was pushing it. That's why I'm so glad you started this thread since of course I hadn't really thought about it. Now I know why old people I knew when I was a kid were so "old" . . . they would have had back pain and dodgey eyesight and whatever else, just like I do now, though at least I don't wear trousers with the waistband up around my chest.
At any given point in time, somewhere in the world someone is working on a Land-Rover.
Now, I would look on the bright side of that, as I make some awful faces along with some gross noises when pulling my socks and shoes on of a morning. You have now told me that your toes are 1/2 an inch closer to your teeth, that would have to be a plus to get your socks on.
Good to see your home.
.
I'm familiar with socks at the moment in the same way that an African Elephant is familiar with roller skating, but I must admit, the fact that I'm now half an inch closer to pulling my socks on with my teeth is one positive that hadn't even occurred to me!
You saying that reminded me of a young lady (and I use that phrase in as much as she was young, and of the female persuasion, but sadly possessed no ladylike qualities whatsoever) I once worked with.
She came limping into work one morning, and after half an hour or so she had done the rounds of the office, clearly looking for sympathy, and then was hovering with a pained look on her face by my desk.
"What have you done to yourself then?", says I, with all the caring of a house brick.
"Hurt my toe", comes the sullen reply
"How did you manage that?", says I, imagining that she had fallen over whilst trying to do something complicated, like think and breathe at the same time.
"Bit my toenail too far down. And it's really sore now"
Luckily there was a bin within retching distance.![]()
You'd think that sort of flexibility would be a plus, but so terribly misused . . .
